    Best one to buy

Hi guys, Well as my name and avatar suggests I've been a discovery driver (and a Landyzone Disco member) for a while. Finally managed to get a 2004 (54 reg) l322 TD6 with 151,000 on the clock and got to admit it's my dream come true!! What an awesome motor! I know though, through what I've...

    Rear wiper motor wiring mystery

AAHH! A few weeks back, I had a sticking lock on my rear door and had to take the door card off to free the lock. Got that sorted, put the door card back on and reconnected the speaker. Tried the wiper to check that everything was okay and lo...it didn't work!! Bugger, methinks I've knocked...

    disco 1 help

As crazymac says, look after the disco and it'll not let you down. Had my disco (98 reg 300TDI GS) over a year now, it does 550 miles each week getting me to work and back, and so far it's not missed a beat. Gets regular servicing and checks (filters, oils, coolant, etc.) and got to admit, I've...

    300tdi MPG final verdict

Use my 300TDi daily to get to work and back, round trip of 110 miles, so do about 550 miles per week. Total weekly mileage is around 580-600 and I spend on average £105 per week on fuel. Not too bad for a 14 year old discovery!! p.s. and I don't drive that slow either!!

    Disco 1 Buying Help

When I got my Disco 1 300TDI last year, the diff lock wouldn't engage and felt locked solid just as you mentioned on the one you're looking at. It was just a sticky linkage and it took next to no time to free up. As mentioned above, cos the diff lock doesn't get frequently used it's prone to...

    disco1 door lock

Had the same problem myself. Couldn't open the door from outside and had to hold the pin up to open from inside. Check the linkages and pin as well, I changed the spring (which is a sod of a job on the front doors due to the window track, etc.!!) and the actuator on my front passenger side door...

    door lock solenoid actuator thing

I replaced the rear driver's door lock actuator with a second hand one I got off fleabay for a tenner and have had no problems with it. Just get one from somebody on fleabay who's got good positive feedback and you can't really go wrong. You will have to do some minor rewiring if you get one...

    rear lights

Tuskenraider, Just got some info that the PRC8878 was for pre-1994 Disco 1's and this relay has 5 pins and it might not fit a post 1994 Disco. It depends on what relay holder you have and how many pin slots it has, as they (LandRover) changed the holders as and when they started...

    rear lights

The relay you need to change is on the top right hand side of the main fuse box behind the drivers side facia panel. The square black box just plugs in and can be removed and replaced without any difficulty or tools. It might be an idea to check which relay type you already have installed, this...

    rear lights

The Discoverys with no bumper lights have the PRC 8878 relay, which doesn't have the rating if you put extra indicators into the quarter lights. I believe the relay type we need to get is AMR4873, it's rated between 4x21W+5W+1.2W and 8x21W+2x5W+2x1.2W so it should cover for the extra...

    rear lights

You may want to get a 3+3+2 indicator (think that's the right one) relay as well, cos when you put the extra indicators in you'll get the trailer light coming on every time you switch on the indicators.

    MOT Passed just in time!!

Ha, ha..I would do but I'd better give him a bit of time to recover from the cuts and burns he got from this lot of welding!!:D Never realised someone could use so many expletives whilst working under a Discovery!!! Just glad to have her back on the road for now. Gonna get Xmas out of the way...

    MOT Passed just in time!!

Disco 1 300TDI, 1998 reg. Put the Disco in for a pre-MOT check a week gone Friday...all the usual welding needed done!! Plus the front brake lines and headlights!! Well, after my mate spent a week on the welding and the other stuff, we put her in for the dreaded test. Got her back today with an...

td5 clutch, can this be done?

Here is an excerpt from Adviceguide from Citizens Advice about buying second hand cars privately. Quoted below: The vehicle doesn't match its description If you can show that the vehicle did not match the description the seller gave you, you will have a claim against them, even if the...

td5 clutch, can this be done?

CharlesY, I totally agree with what you say about CAVEAT EMPTOR... however it can get quite messy where a buyer buys something, whether through a private sale or through a dealer, based on information or 'receipts' for work done which prove to be false, as in this case. If the buyer has...

td5 clutch, can this be done?

p.s. It could end up being a long fight but don't give in, we all need to stand up for our rights as consumers.

td5 clutch, can this be done?

I would get all the receipts for the original clutch you bought, the receipts for the 'work' done by Kendal LR and the receipts and a report from the garage who eventually fixed the clutch. Then contact Citizens Advice Bureau about how to go about claiming off the dodgy Kendal LR spot. You will...

    Windscreen Wipers Blades

Damn, wish we had a Lidl nearby...closest one's up in Carlisle and by the time I've gone there and back it'll have cost me the same amount in diesel as I'd have saved from not getting them at my local Halfords!!
