disco 1 help

hi everyone my first thread so here goes.
iv had both disco and defender before a few years ago but due to needing something bigger for work iv been driving twincabs and vans for the the past years for work although iv kept buying lro mag.
the 300tdi disco i had 10 years ago was a great truck it would get the usual leaks. nocks, rattles etc but it never let me down it had a poor starter motor the ages but allways started it had a whining gear box but never packed up, i never lost confidence with her i allways new as long as i get round to repairing the fault at some point but kept up regular servicing shed never fail me.
well im hopefully getting a exact same spec disco in a few days its just getting a new transfer box and service, its a bit shaby bodywork wise but underneeth on the ramps it looked pretty solid just some surface rust, and the engine although showing 170000 starts straight away with now smoke and goes very well, as good as mine did 10 years ago.
im just wondering if they are still reliable as this will be a everyday vehical doing around 250 miles a week.
im aware of the sighns of rot to look for but is there anything else i should be checking now these discos are getting on a bit.

No reason why it wouldn't be reliable as long as you maintain it properly.

My 300 Disco is my daily drive, 16,000 miles since the beginning of April last year with no problems. I expect to do closer to 19,000 miles in the 12 months.

As crazymac says, look after the disco and it'll not let you down. Had my disco (98 reg 300TDI GS) over a year now, it does 550 miles each week getting me to work and back, and so far it's not missed a beat. Gets regular servicing and checks (filters, oils, coolant, etc.) and got to admit, I've been more than happy with the old girl.
