My Defender has been parked for a while waiting for a major service to the engine, transfer case and transmission. Finally got tired of seeing it just sitting and got her back on the road! Still needs some work, but it's running well and super happy to be driving it again!

I think it is actually burnt. I tested the solenoid and it works fine - but the motor itself failed. When I pulled it apart, it was full of corrosion and the brushes were gone. As a result, the commutator bar was badly worn. I was able to find a good used armature on island, but not a brush...

What a pain to get that starter out! They didn't make that an easy job!!!

Well - they don't put salt on the roads in the winter here, but we are surrounded by salt water. I think that people just take good care of their vehicles. I think I am the third owner of my Defender and it has very little rust underneath.

That would be great! The more help the better. There is actually a healthy Land Rover Community here in Grenada also. Just that most of the vehicles are older series vehicles. Great to see them all out on the road though! I am looking forward to getting my Defender ready to go so I can join up...

Shipping is definitely an issue! I imagine that most of what I need would fit in a good sized rucksack!
