Yeah I was thinking the same, stamp the chassis and they will probably poke no further.

Help police have seized my pride and joy

I duz know the rulez :p I just forgot a few details  Mainly that this guy changed the engine mounts (so modified chassis) and the bonnet (not original spec body).

Help police have seized my pride and joy

So essentially the real issue is that the chassis was changed but the number was not stamped on it. Can't see how they expect a vehicle to be 20-30 years old and not have some major components replaced at some point in it's life, whether that's spread out over time or in one big overhaul. What's...

    Other Car shampoo

You get shampoo and wax (or coatings as they call them these days) that work together. You get the paint to a finish you are happy with, apply the coating and use the corresponding shampoo which then tops up the "wax" as you wash. It also depends a lot on how you dry the surface as this is where...

And now adding a 90 to the collection.......

I had my Defender stripped to just the bulkhead like that and I was still using it to shunt vehicles around in and out the garage. Just shows how they are very much just a tractor with a fancy cab on them. What plans do you have for it?

Disco 2 Getting rid of roof rust spots.

Yes certainly, cutting it out is as near as you will get to removing it completely. Often for small spots like stone chips a good clean out is enough. I always like to treat the affected area too.

    Disco 1 Welding

As the last sentence says, no good for sheet metal fab. What bits need doing? A stick welder (MMA) doesn't give you the control you get from a wire feed (MAG with mixed gas). Yes it will be suitable for chassis repairs, but it will be about on it's limit. That in mind, it's almost pointless...

Disco 2 Getting rid of roof rust spots.

Very good work you have done there. I explain these types of rust spots to people as being like an iceberg, it's far bigger under the surface. I did the rear quarter panel on a Nissan pickup, it had three or four 1 pence sized spots, they couldn't believe it when I showed them the 9" by 9" piece...

'Handles' on rear crossmember- what are they for?

They are listed as a grab handle, as that is what they were originally designed as, but they were fitted as bumperettes intended to protect the rear lights from scrub and low speed reversing impacts. Whether it was by design or fluke, they are also very handy as steps and for tying stuff to etc.

    Security locks?

It's crazy really, I often leave the key in most of my vehicles out side the house. Right now the disco and my sierra are parked out on the road with the keys in them. Many people will leave their cars running out side a shop or what ever. My point is, you're probably better off moving :p:D

    Relay queery

Think of the relay as a switch that is operated by electrical current. A simple 4 pin relay will have 2 pins that you use for the switching circuit, and the other 2 for what ever you are powering. You would need to have a supply from your switch to the relay, this will "turn the relay on" which...
