    6 wheels

I had figured as much but thought I'd put it in there anyway, hence the cheeky :p for comedic value. There was a point about 6 months ago I looked at the option to build an 8x8 using a Defender and Discovery chassis and a turbo diesel V8 to power it, forward control double cab with a flat bed...

If all you care about right now are donor vehicles for chassis and mechanical parts then decide what engine you will use, get parts that are compatible. If you are on about a donor vehicle that is already a 6x6 then good luck :p Bottom line is get stuff and weld it until it's how you want it :D

    Finally got another Land Rover!

Right then, I miss having a build thread to post crap in so thought I'd reignite this one :D Back in 2013 I did all the chassis welding it needed then in 2014 I did all the body welding including both front inner wings and headlight boxes and rear door shut panels. Most of this was done a bit...

I suppose strictly speaking yes, but if you had an invoice to prove you bought what is being sold as a chassis for a 1995 300TDi Defender from a reputable and long established seller I'd think you'd have more chance with plod/investigator types than buying a chassis off ebay sold for a 2000's...

He used a chassis built to the specification of a TDCI Defender, that's why he needed to change the engine mounts to retain the original engine, so technically the chassis isn't like for like.

I don't think it was done to look like no1 was still on the road, it was done to keep no1 on the road. Replace the knackered bits, just so happened that was 99% of the vehicle. I can see how this could easily happen though. Also agree with that last bit, it's innocent UNLESS proven guilty.

It would have already been registered from the start.

Not really, Puma bonnets weren't available in 1988, nor were TDCI chassis.

That's exactly how I saw it too, but he does appear to have used some parts from newer vehicles, some removed from a scrapped/written off vehicle so it makes it a bit messy.
