bb he did say straight after he took plugs out and 2 were black..now what evers gone wrong..driveshafts ect..dont cause that ive advised compression test..if it turns over, maybe screw a oil gauge into block while its cranking.. but most of all a new opinion

i think the main clue is that it was stated 2 out of 4 cylinders has black plugs ,so poss no compression , now while electrics can cause no spark to happen on 2 side by side cylinders in the context of the breakdown as in oil light on...wouldnt to me point to drive shafts, or gearbox or leckys

its a situation where you can spend a fortune on blind faith...by relying on some ones word who may or may not have the foggiest,

k series new hg every 40k it seems...poor heads done in on second one...you see lot of bmw saloons..150k plus...

wonder how many k series engines last that long..only reason i had a td4..was bmw engine and porche gearbox..gertring i think

wow...lot miles by any standards, just had a winter service on mine..so oil an filter had only done 4k

as an ex mechanic i can not in a million years from the symptoms you originally stated now get to it being ..drive shafts..maybe ..then ..ignition..maybe..flat battery not turning..it may be siezed in that now its cooled down its locked up in that when hot it would have been in expanded...

then why has it got 2 cylinders that are blacking plugs...

good thing with diesels ...glow plugs ..adds the heat for ya

really is down to servicing and when something dont sound right ..fix it..dont do tomorrow what needs to be done today...and of course..buy wisely

i never buy with over 70k 0n the clock...as a rule mine had 75 ..2 owners full service
