    Ahhhhhhhhhhh is that it?? It's an old landy and we left vac pump open. Old brakes you see. So that could be it?! If so bung it up?? If compression test is correct this could be the problem.......

    Oops! Ha I didn't state what it's going in did I! Series 3 1973. If I got the 200tdi I'd take turbo off but that leaves less power than a td. Got one now so will post results when fitted

    Haha towing 2 tonnes in my series with a tdi would mangle a standard series gearbox in a short time:-)

    So a new seal on the rear crank and start up, drive a bit (new engine to me- 4 years in a field prior to my picking up) Oil piddling out the back, but it's a new seal?! Also oil Flies out when we removed the oil dipstick at about 2000rpm. Will do a compression test bo see about piston...

    Ok thanks james. You mean like a days offroading at slow speed? In which case I may well leave it looped just for now then look to fit the rad before mud plugging :-) cheers

    I loved My 110 which had one in- putting one in my series now so will report back what it's like in a swb with low gears and diffs!

    19J sump gasket??

    There shouldn't be any pressure build up should there?!? You have an oil breather that coughs and splutters on the top:-) I'm doing my sump gasket today and using the 12j gasket instead of sealant.....
