Cant say for a TD4 auto but I have a TD4 manual and used to have a TD5 manual, both standard and the TD4 is way quicker than a TD5 - a remap will only enhance this (as it would a TD5!) I wouldn't be too worried about buying an older car without service history if the condition was right but...

Try a breakers, many 3 doors dont have roof rails so the cover plates should be easy and cheap to source

Not good :( being optimistic I guess its possible that what you are seeing is left over residue from a previous HGF but considering the coolant drop, chances are there is a problem somewhere. Pulling to the left could be tracking needing adjusted or mis-matched tyres, tyres should be the same...

The flat panel above the passenger airbag is squeaking a bit and I want to remove the panel so check the fixings - anyone know how to remove it?

You can buy the fobs from ebay but make sure its the same frequency as the one you currently have and is working. The fobs need to be programmed by plugging into diagnostic software, either dealer software or suitable independent software.

The 5 door roller blind cover is too long for the 3 door models, I have often wondered if it would be possible to cut a roller blind down a bit to suit the 3 door models as the roller blinds are easier to find and much cheaper.

ha ha yeah ;) up until last year I had 3 k series engined cars - freelander, MGF VVC and MG TF. HG is easy to fix if it goes wrong though - my Freelander had an MLS gasket done before I bought it and I have done one on my MGF. TF is one of the new Chinese ones thats supposed to have fixed...

I SORN my 1.8 Freelander over the summer - did this on the 1st March and started using my MG TF but really missing the Freelander this year, even though we still have the TD4. I must be mad missing a petrol Freelander!!

ET refers to the wheel off-set measured from the centre line - depending on the original spec ET, it will dictate how much further a wheel sticks out or is reset into the wheel arch if it differs from the original figure - if that makes sense ;) This chart might explain it better

I have never had an alignment tool to hand when doing a clutch but always had success just aligning it by eye although I have only done rwd vehicles so access is easier lol
