Been window shopping and noticed there int many red Freelander 2’s about. Whilst scanning the web I found all sorts of stories of red chemicals not available due to the tsunami etc. Peeps say the evoque and Freelander 2 are made on the same line in Halewood. Also quoting 80% of vehicles on said line are evoques. They make red evoques as I’ve seen them. Latest LR Freelander 2 catalogue shows red paint as an option, but LR’s web page dun’t.

Any truth in the above? Anyone work at Halewood and can confirm?

Wait i thought red paint gave +5bhp?

And Land Rover are still feeling lots and lots of reprocussions from the Tsumani, including 1500+keys on backorder etc.

I always assumed the lack of Red Freelanders and Evoques is that the original red was a bit meh. I think it was called Rimini? Then they replaced it with the really nice red, but since then 9/10 cars sold are White (Yuck!).

Resale on a white car is like +£2k atm, its just silly.

Cant confirm the Red paint being unavailable though :p Sorry.

Thats because the old red sucked.

The new Red ive seen on quite a few Evoques, though it im sure 90% of evoques are white with black roofs.

I likes red ones. :D

Teddy you sure?

Wasnt Alverston Red the FL1 colour? Then it went to Rimini, now i think its a new red for 12 model years?

Or i could be totally wrong :p

Building is hunters in derby. Photo's nicked off the second hand, shorry nearly new list on lr's site. Red above is rimini which is simular to the tratter rioja red which was around 10 years ago. New Freelander red is firenze. Same red on the Evoque. All 3 look the same. Depends on the lighting when the pic was taken. Some look betterer than others, but it's the same colour.

Only a gaylander could have a colour named after it's owners favourite sexual indulgence:hysterically_laughi

Just had a look at the used section. Rimini red was available on Freelander 2, RR, RRS, D3, D4 and tratter. Theres a tratter 110 on there too. :p

Just to quote myself. The one you see on New 12MY cars is Firenze Red :p

It looks more like the Alveston Red, than the Rimini. Though i think its brighter than Alveston and deeper in colour than Rimini.

hi hippo
yes your right about the freelander 2 and evoques going down the same production line at hailwood. Worked on both the freelander 2 in 2005/2006 and on the new evoque 2011 at hailwood. Worked on new product introduction on both Freelander 2 and Evoque. When i left last september it was a 3 to 1 ratio evoque to freelander. :D

do yourself a favour & buy a decent car ! Landrover customer service appalling ! Dealers incapable of fixing when they go wrong !FR2's are a money pit ! with a capital P , They are horrendously thirsty by modern day standards & they ain't built to last !
I have a low mileage one that I have owned from new & its been the worst car I have ever owned in 35 + years. The faults fill 6 whole pages of A4 paper . As an example its had 4 dashes, power steering rack, Pump, turbo an air-con pump, 4 fan speed controllers wiring harness, no end of electrical problems with windows dash, warning modules etc, reduced power & starting issues ! wiper mechanmsim & motor, steering column, sensors, imobilizer issues,EGR valve, replacement tow bar, seized rear brakes, these are just a few of the issues when it was less than three years old. !& less than 14000 miles ! Oh and to really top the lot a defective auto gearbox that was never diagnosed by any main dealers whilst under warranty ! ( it was always pulling away in 2nd gear !) this caused severe hesitation and flat spot as it struggled on hills to get moving , so now I'm left with one that the box is most likely shot as well. L/Rovers best offer was an extra 2k of a brand new one ! why the hell when its been a piece of junk would I want to buy another piece of carp & pay 17k to upgrade when mine had done less than 20K in three years & paid nearly 30k for the first one.
I hate mine, it makes me sick every-time I look at it with the stress it has caused ! including breaking down 3 times in 3 years whilst on holiday in France causing even more stress.
Landrover should be ashamed of themselves ! Oh I I still have a really noisy rear axle that when driving abroad once it gets to 470 miles it howls so loud you cant hear yourself talk in the car & this has never been fixed as it doesn't make the noise when it goes to the dealer ! The first time the noise started was 2 weeks old and 1470 miles old & had to live with it since !so that will be the next failure !
Do not buy these pieces of junk they are appalling !

Was it a red one? Perhaps black ones are really better.
