    Purchased a 1963 series 2a

Quite right; you spend a small fortune on a Fairey overdrive only to find that it howls and whines like a Hillary supporter or an EU remainer. Spend a bit more and get a new and vastly superior Roamerdrive.

    Max alternator S3

Me too! except I have an ordinary slide adjuster, the belt is quite loose as well but I haven't had any problems with belt slip. Why is the belt quite loose I hear you ask... (Crickets), it's because I have to be underneath with a tyre lever on alternator moving duty while somebody else tightens...

Poly Bush Kit FloFlex v's Britpart

Which result demonstrates the bull**** that occasionally comes out of Paddocks... I have some Britpart blue bushes on my 109 which have been on there for 10,000 miles. No problems and no sign of wear as yet.

Other Will a leaking steering box fail MOT?

A few drops after standing for two months? I think you are worrying over nothing. Expecting a Land Rover not to drop a bit of oil is a forlorn hope.

Other Will a leaking steering box fail MOT?

If it's just weeping it shouldn't fail, if you notice the oil level dropping on a weekly basis, it needs fixing sooner rather than later. You should be able to extract the rocker shaft without removing the whole steering box. The most difficult part will be pulling the drop-arm off the rocker...

    Towing capacity

30 years or so ago I was asked if I would trailer a tractor from Grantham to the Royal showground at Stoneleigh, (or was it the other way around?) with my petrol 2a 88". I asked: how much does the tractor weigh? About 5 tons I seem to remember was the reply. Needless to say, I turned the job down...

Series 3 Thinking of buying a S3 with 200tdi engine.

I don't want to get into an argument about 'turbo vs no turbo'. It's a matter of choice and what each wants from his/her Land Rover. It is tempting to succumb to the advantages of the turbo but if you do go down that road, do the job properly and uprate the brakes and the gearbox. We all know...

Series 3 Thinking of buying a S3 with 200tdi engine.

I don't know, never been in a turbo version. Not much difference would be my guess? Sound proofing is the answer if done well. They are quite civilised at cruising speed, (50 to 55 mph). Mine has an overdrive because I found it very under-geared without the OD, it was screaming above 40 mph.

Series 3 Thinking of buying a S3 with 200tdi engine.

I once walked away from my petrol 2a and left it running. Didn't hear it at idle and just forgot to switch it off, came back ten minutes later to find it still running! Good job this was out in the country, might never have seen it again had I done it in town. However..., I still found it a...

Here they are and look what else I found too! It's been nine years since I squirrelled this stuff away and as I have trouble remembering why I came into this room?? I hope I can be forgiven... The sills are somewhat battered as can be seen; it depends on how good you want them to be.

    Holes in Bulkhead.

Where can one buy after-market holes? Are they cheap and easier than drilling one's own? A thought on the dog problem: One could always superglue one's dogs arse to one's new after-market hole.
