P38A What is this big thing from the boot.

Can't wait to get all my, (scrubbed and jet washed), boot trim back in place - I had forgotten how nice it should look as I am so used to seeing bare metal, (in my beast), these days. As I was also very 'new to the breed' I thought that the large plastic box assembly was some form of 'rapid'...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

The beast took me to Woodhall Spa to pick up a chest freezer and to see Dad's Army at the 'Kinema in the woods' so she has earned a few smartie points today. Still lots of work to do though!

    Classic Stereo issue

Not familiar with your set up and there is always a possibility that your system may no longer be standard, (although that should be relatively obvious to see once you start looking at your current installation), but do you have combined bass and mid-range speakers in your doors/interior as is...

    P38A airbag fault

That's one hell of a commute - even by my standards!

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Quaver, Many thanks for your suggestion - I have yet to fully acquaint myself with the suspension/steering components - but will read up the relevant sections in RAVE! I do need to remove the steering wheel airbag, (as I need to try and repair the various switches - most of which I am hoping...

Other I respect all your opinions....

You can always undertake a 'dummy' run, (no pun intended), by making your choice of the vehicle(s), to cull and then SORN it/them for a month to see if you have made the right choice. I would look for an alternative to the Beeper, (as your backup vehicle), as there are lots of absolute bargains...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Took it out for its first run out today!!!!!!!! Treated it to £15 of petrol, (enough to get the fuel gauge needle off the endstop)! It started ok, (it always starts first time). Gearbox appears to be ok, (auto box changes all ok and kickdown ok), but XYZ alignment has slipped - suspect that...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Not the best start to the week as I managed to lose the garage and gate keys yesterday, (possibly picking up my wife from hospital), although I was able to refit the newly resprayed radiator grill - which looks very good, (just a pity about the rest of the car)! Today not much better as...

    P38 boot won't open

It's dead easy to get to - mine started playing up whilst I was replacing my upper tailgate. Three 'captive' slot head screws - turn 90 degrees and the carpeted liner simply pulls out, (the far end simply slots into a recess). The button is hel by two Philips screws and you then twist the...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Resprayed radiator grill and cleaned up cooling fans. Fitted all of the upper tailgate trim and tested all wipers and washer jets - all working fine. Removed Interlock, (XYZ Switch), and re-soldered all cables, (were joined with crimped 'bullet connectors and then wrapped in a length of Duck...

    P38A Radio Mystery...

Is it a 'beep' or a 'click' and is the noise directly related to engine speed? If it is a 'click' and it is related to engine speed it sounds like HT 'pick up' but if the sound is more like a 'tone/beep' then it could be a 'logic derived' pulse, (but still related to the engine speed - such as...

P38A Anyone need any brake fluid...?

Ah! But you are forgetting about my vast 'reserves' of said fluid that I have cleverly 'secreted' all over the garage floor, my overalls, my freshly painted brake calipers and my brake bleeding kit reservoir . . . . . I believe that I first bled car brakes around the age of 14, (I was...

P38A Anyone need any brake fluid...?

I have two ongoing 'tasks' both of which require copious amounts of 'fluid' for two, (non RR related), issues. My Grand Cherokee has burst it's power steering hose and, (whilst trying to find a cheap replacement), I have attempted to repair it but the pressure is too great for my, (non crimp)...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

I haven't driven a single mile in mine - yet. I have turned it round in the garden so that has to be a posive start - about 50 to 75 metres in total!

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Work on the RR has been temporarily curtailed as my wife was admitted to hospital last Monday. I did manage to fit 3 door cards, (just leaving the drivers door as I need to 'service' the door lock and repair/replace the door amp), and refit the lower taigate trim, (jet washing the carpet)...

    p38 diagnostics

I used to live in Bingham, (until recently), but decided to banish myself to the 'wastelands' of Lincolnshire! I also knew a very good, (bike), mechanic in Langley Mill who used to service my Ducati's and I believe that he may have raced at the TT, (but not on any of my bikes - that's why I...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Bit the bullet and used snipe nose pliers to remove door card retaining pins from door, (I broke one but managed to get all the rest out without any further mishaps). I can't replace front driver card until I have serviced the lock, (as I did with the passenger side yesterday), and can't...

P38A Just bought a new (to me) Rangie!

As well as finding about £15 when I stripped the vehicle I also got a 'Syncmate' thrown in for free, (as well as three shot gun cartridges). Murphy's law therefore dictates that it will not mess me about with the usual key - BCU 'fall out' routine - and it hasn't despite my taking all the...

P38A Just bought a new (to me) Rangie!

Saint, more likely the P38 as I have no exerience of the L322, (but only imited P38 knowledge - mostly thanks to this forum and primarily Wammers and yourself), and this the primary reason why I 'invested' in my little wreck of a project! I guess, (but I know that you will correct me if I am...

P38A Just bought a new (to me) Rangie!

I had one piece of luck! I do not have the EKA or Radio code and the CD Auto Changer was sitting in a pool of mud! I cleaned and serviced the Radio Head assembly and thoroughly serviced the CD Auto Changer, (fortunately the pcb's were not damaged), ready for when I could get the code from a...
