    Inlet Manifold Gaskets, TD4 2002

Bit confused about inlet manifold gaskets...going to try to change my injectors myself and I think I need 8 gaskets in total for the inlet manifold. 4 round & 4 square. I think the part numbers are LKJ101130L & LKJ101120L. Is this right? Also hot engine or not? I've read some posts...

    Freeloader starting

nock I had very similar symptons to you, took longer and longer to start but only when warm. Eventually wouldnt start at all when warm so suspected the cam sensor as I'd already done a leak off test which came back good and removed, checked and cleaned the in tank fuel pump (mines a 2002)...

    Warm Start Problem

Thanks for the updates,I decided to bite the bullet and had the local independant do a full diagnostic which came back with the fault "Fuel Rail Pressure Plausibility". Well I kind of new that already but it also gave a list of likely suspects one of which was injectors so they did a leak back...

    Warm Start Problem

Thanks for the replies,I forgot to mention in my original post that before I ran the millers through it also seemed to take a long time to start from cold. Not ages but maybe 3-5 secs. Also, I removed & cleaned the connections on the fuel pressure sensor (at the end of the fuel rail), not the...

    Warm Start Problem

So I have a warm start problem. It's 02 TD4, not had the carthat long. It starts fine when cold, starts with apush when warm (easily), when warm sometimes starts after cranking for about 20-30 secs but sometimes not. No smoke at any time. Had a problem with the EML coming onwhich I think was...

What MPG do you get from your Flander

Filled up yesterday morning, drove 44 miles on the motorway & 82 miles on A roads. Filled up at the same station using the same pump today & used excatly 14 litres of diesel. Works out to 34 MPG so I guess about right

    Why Tight on Full Lock?

Thanks for the replies. It is certainly frustrating that LR don't give figures. I did the torque test myself (on hub nut) and got a reading of 90 N-m so I'm guessing that the VCU is ok although I can't deny that I still have a nagging doubt because of stiffness on lock. Thing is when I bought...

    Why Tight on Full Lock?

Tony Thanks for the quick reply. I understand that just because it's tight it doesn't mean the vcu has had it. It's just that a knackered vcu seems to be the diagnosis a lot of people jump to. There are probably lots of people that are changing the vcu when there's probably not a lot wrong...

    Why Tight on Full Lock?

I've been reading a lot of posts about tight lock = vcu prob etc. but there doesnt seem to be any rhyme or reason running throughout. Some posts are saying the lock is tight even though they've a new VCU, some are saying the lock is not even though the VCU is seemingly knackered (or at least...

Fuel Pump, filter, both? How do I tell?

Darmain is the pick up gauze part of the pump. I had a small plastic filter/ grille in the side of the pump body & then a wire filter section internal to the pump body, it was sort of diamond shaped. Both were spotless. Have I missed something else in the tank that I should have checked...

    OBD what?

Ok by generic do you mean standard OBD codes but not LR specific codes? what I'm trying to do is reset all codes and then address each code as it appears (or hopefully not because one doesn't appear).

    Vcu torque test

90 N-m so about 66 lbs-ft on a 2002 TD4 86K on the clock. Feels tight on full lock esp in reverse.

    OBD what?

I'm after a cheap code reader, read & reset & any bells a whistles I can get for not a lot. I've a 2002 TD4 3 door hard back. Will this ELM 327 thing for the pc work? if not what are my options?

Fuel Pump, filter, both? How do I tell?

Dann apologies, I wasn't ignoring your post. I agree the fuel level seems to be significant. Do you know how the fuel level sensor works? I'm thinking maybe a full tank gives a nice signal to (or from) the sensor but as the level drops so does the voltage to (or from) the sensor and it throws...

Fuel Pump, filter, both? How do I tell?

I can definitely hear the in tank pump running on mine, it charges the systemfor about 30 secs as the electrics come on but I do need to get my ear right up against the wheel arch to hear it. It's really not difficult to take the pump out so definitley have a go at giving it a clean up before...

Fuel Pump, filter, both? How do I tell?

I took the in tank fuel pump out this morning (twisted it's real easy, follow the link Chaser left). I was hoping to find it fouled up but it looks brand new (I assume the white plastic will be yellow on old pumps?), filter was absolutely spotless. So lift pump looks ok but i suppose it could...

Fuel Pump, filter, both? How do I tell?

P.s. Is the filter part of the in tank pump or a separate thing? Can I change one without changing the other?

Fuel Pump, filter, both? How do I tell?

Had a general tinker about around the car today and I can definitely hear both the in tank pump and under the bonnet pump working. They both run for about 30 secs after the ignition is turned on. The fuel filter under the bonnet doesn't look like it's been changed in a while (rust around the...

Fuel Pump, filter, both? How do I tell?

Hi Twisted, I've not run it low enough to find out but I'm 90% certain this only happens when I have less than about 1/3 of a tank
