Leon, It sounds like it maybe the ABS is kicking in. Presumably it is just from one wheel only? If not sure which drop each front (presumably) wheel individually off a kerb to find which one it happens with. This then will be the wheel where either the hub has had it or there is a problem...

I would hesitate a guess that it is to do with the XYZ switch. You say the XYZ switch has been cleaned, does this mean it has been out and apart for cleaning? If so was it setup properly when put back, or is it possibly a bad connection to the XYZ switch plug? The switch notoriously gets...

Alternatively, presuming you have a D2, if you can get hold of a D1 auto box sump, these are the same shape but fitted with a dipstick, that you can check level and fill up through. Good opportunity to do an oil and filter change at the same time. Tony

Is it possible that this is a water ingress issue? I know its fairly dry in Aus but roofs, at least genuine ones leak and ruin the sunroof motors, just wonder if this is the same cause, in that moisture has got into the controller or the motor? Tony

Nanocom (Evo) is better than a Hawkeye, as it will let you record live data to an SD card, and you can then save and examine it later, or post it here for people to examine. Hawkeye IIRC will let you view live data only without the ability to record it, so you really need a Nanocom plugin...

I believe so yes, but their use is better aided by connection to a laptop, at least until you get the hang of it. That way you can see the proper screens, not just the one line entry.. Tony

Best not to guess, get it plugged in and read live data, before you chase the wrong fault. Probably best to plug the MAP sensor back in anyway, but the MAF is not so important unless it is an EU3 (15P or later) engine. Are you sure the fuel pump is ok, if as you say you have presumably had it...

Try a sniff test and check the top hose when warm. If it is rock hard then the system is probably being pressurised, meaning the HG is cracked. A cold heater usually means an air lock somewhere, as the hot coolant is unable to get to the heater matrix, and getting all the air out can sometimes...

Are you sure it is the front wheel bearings? 3 Amigos don't always indicate only a wheel bearing (hub) problem It could just be an ABS sensor problem...Unless you are absolutely sure, you might be better to find a friend with a Nanocom of Hawkeye to get the codes read and identify which hub is...

Or you could get a proper used but perfect TD5 oil cooler from Heathy (Paul) at Discovery 2 Parts on 01206 211623, and still use hydraulic hoses. Tony
