Disco 2 Inlet Manifold Removal & Clean + Re-furbish FPR

The Defender one's similar enough I feel I can comment ;) 1) Dunno how hard the Disco bonnet is to remove, but if it's not a MAJOR pain in the something, I'd do it. Everything's easier without the damn things in the way. 2) No. A standard spanner is fine (for the nut anyway) - they're just...

Darn trolls :) now removed, thanks @blue beasty ! Hopefully if he comes back he'll do it honestly!

What sand paper grit shall I use??

As you'll have probably realised from the commentary here and on your other thread, a good paint job is all about taking the time to do it properly. Don't skimp on the preparation, do all the steps. If you can, dismantle the panels - that's the ideal, plus you'll find it easier to do the actual...

What sand paper grit shall I use??

2-pack is called that because it's not supplied in one pot like (say) oil paints and whatnot. It's supplied in two - one is the 'hardener', which you add to the main paint and the two react together to make a much harder (they say) paint than a 'normal' one. Also called '2k' paint. It's very...

Hi comrades, I'm in cloud cuckoo land, aka Penzance

Good luck with it! Keep us informed of progress - look forward to seeing how you get on with it.

P6 V8 manifolds and loss of power

It's certainly easy enough to check that, and I wouldn't have thought of it, thanks v much! :D

    2.5td pump on a 2.5na engine

I don't know for sure, but the part numbers are different, which suggests to me maybe not. (ETC7136 vs ERC6761) LR Direct also specifically states that ERC6761 isn't for TDs which seems to reinforce that view. No doubt someone'll be along in a moment to correct me ;)

    Series 2 Battery dimensions/power rating

A thread for the same part number as found in my parts manual for a petrol s2a (278283, described as 'Battery, dry, 12V, LU4016417, Petrol models) comes up with some dimensions about halfway down, and some further reference. I can't vouch for the authenticity but hope it helps...

Great stuff, let us know how they come out! (Photos man, photos! ;))

P6 V8 manifolds and loss of power

The PO put them in just before I picked it up, he'd been pretty good with the oil changes and whatnot so I haven't replaced them yet as it's not done more than 400mi since - so I don't know for sure! But I'm told they're two of the Rover P6 air filters. Which given that's what the engine's from...

P6 V8 manifolds and loss of power

For anyone who reads this later (for posterity innit) I finished installing the pump, but it wasn't that. Next step drilling a hole in the fuel tank and installing a fuel return pipe and line from the carbs, still working on the assumption it's flooding for now!

    V8 installation.

Wish I could help but honestly if I did it wouldn't tell you anything useful! One of the vehicle customiser types might be willing to give you some advice if you're nice! I must admit I don't know any off the top of my head, but I'm sure a bit more googling will get you there. If you try 3 or 4...

    The Nairobi Defender 90 Project.....

Good progress there I think! Dead jelly of all the space you have to work in. And the dry warm climate - it's been peeing it down here all day so not a minute's work done.

    Sting Ray's '89 90 - Complete Restoration

I know you can get pipework that's designed for in-cockpit fuel flow (less gas-permeable), but agree I'd not really want them in there with me either. I like your idea of being able to cut them off. You could do it via a remote-activated solenoid so you could have the cut-off anywhere and not...

    Sting Ray's '89 90 - Complete Restoration

Glad to hear you've persevered through the rage you must have felt when the paint job failed! I'd be livid. Anyway, just returning to this point you raised earlier, it struck me that if you do that and the transfer pump fails at an inconvenient point, it'd be a real nuisance since you'll have to...

    Land Rover Double-header

While I was doing the belt, I took a quick photo of Sunny's front timing cover - the engine's a 14J so in theory this is supposed to be a tin plate. Looked back through the paperwork and nothing to say either way, and I can find bugger all on 14J engines and the differences between them and...

Help Needed for series 3 body preparation

Yes, absolutely - sorry should have said, don't use one of those wheels if you're just planning on touching up! That's not what I got from your post but I could have imagined it. They won't do a half-job so if you're just keying it they're not the right tool. No need for machinery if you're just...
