Why did i buy it !!!

That's the used car market for you mate. Some people ain't got a clue, then you suffer the consequences of it all. I am in the same boat, the previous owner dropped it in the drink, bodged repairs all over the place that I have been slowly working through, gives me something to do. Spent more...

wont start, stranded! any ideas before AA get here?

Yep, I did that with the filler cap. Thought it was knackered too when it wouldn't open when the ignition was on. Interlocks, stop you buggering things up.

wont start, stranded! any ideas before AA get here?

Every auto I have owned I have done this then it clicks. My first I started it then wondered why it wouldn't go into drive. Foot on brake! My Mrs does it, phoned me at work, cars broke again, too.

    P38's are great!

Yeah, I did the same. Stopped me having to top it up with coolant as much. I am sure it helped me get down to Silverstone from the wirral without ruining the rest of the engine components. I kept a close eye on the temperature believe me.

Why not get a better compressor?

Fitting a pressure gauge is on my list of things to do when I have finished with repairs. Got to sort a sensor out first. The gauge I suppose is the best way to see whether the pump is on and keeping up with demand and leak checking.

    P38's are great!

I tried kseal before I stripped the engine and got the block fitted with tophat liners. It never overheated with the cracked block, the rad coped. Just blew coolant out the expansion tank. The k seal appeared to stop coolant from running back into the combustion chamber after being turned off...

    P38 heater problems.

Same issue with my drivers side one, noticed mine was stuck on cold just after the summer. Took it apart using the method on rangerovers.net to drill a hole in the dash to get access to the ducting screw, worked a treat. Cutting the ducting out after that bit took two hours. Glad I did it...

Air re-circulation blend motor needs changing, how the?

In the process of getting the aircon working for the summer (if it does eventually get here). I have a stalled blend motor fault on right hand fan, the recirc blend door. Which is stuck on fresh air, door is free but motor won't move it. How do you get at it chaps? Will it come out without...

    temp guage

There are two coolant temperature transmitters just before the top hose on the way out of the inlet manifold. On my 96 it is the smaller one with a single wire. The other larger one is for the engine management. My local factor got the wrong one for me first can be confusing.

4.6 GEMS is it worth me buying a Nanocom now

4.6 GEMS is it worth me buying a Nanocom now

Your right, mirrors are fixed to lower when in reverse. Just a shame they go down to far, bad neck when going backwards.

4.6 GEMS is it worth me buying a Nanocom now

Nanocom arrived. Updated it, brilliant. Lambdas are reading and its running as it should. Reset adaptive values, working well. Found a whole host of problems with the hevac which I will post separately if I can't find any info. The height sensors had registered left rear out of range...

4.6 GEMS is it worth me buying a Nanocom now

Ok so the key is a no go. I will be happy if I can sort the heating/aircon and reset the suspension height. Getting some blocks made up to set it up to standard, so I have ordered the nanocom anyway. It tends to sit low at the back drivers side most of the time. I know the chap who had...

p38 brakes just failed, poo nearly came out.

OK cheers Clarky 15, I think the reason for 6 presses of the pedal could be old brake fluid in lines from the block to the calipers or the cut in pressure for the pump is too high and I have a naf switch. I need a helper who won't be available until the weekend to help me properly bleed the...

p38 brakes just failed, poo nearly came out.

Just a quick update, put new accumulator on, went from 2 brake pedal pushs between pump runs to 6. Result. Just need to give it a dam good bleeding.

p38 brakes just failed, poo nearly came out.

Since reading up on the brake system and how it works I thought it best to invest in a new acumulator for my new second hand pump. The pump currently runs for 40 seconds on start after sitting overnight but then runs again near enough after the second brake push. So just to be sure I will...

p38 brakes just failed, poo nearly came out.

Thanks for the info chaps, changed it this afternoon. 145 quid for a pump and relay, if it didn't work I could have taken it back, Off a local scrappy. Bled through the bleed nipples on the block, followed rave. Left out bleeding all the brake calipers. Worked a treat, brakes better than ever...

p38 brakes just failed, poo nearly came out.

Well all, looks like that relay malfunction has knackered my abs pump. Its just seized and wont run, brakes are spongy as if no pressure. lights are on, on the dash. swine. Probably the accumulator causing the pump to stop start, ruined the relay, and knackered the pump. Chicken and egg. What...
