Ok I'm at my wits end. I have checked release bearing is all the way back, I have disconnected prop, I have greased splines and put it in neutral and I have jacked up bell housing at various heights and it just won't go in. I have rocked up and down, side to side, back to front but it just...

Can't get engine in, bloody bellhousing

Hi guys I am trying to put my new engine in my 110. Old 200tdi out new 200tdi in but I am stuck. I just can't get the engine to meet the bell housing. It all seems level, the smooth section of the shaft goes in but then hits something so I can't get the splines in. I don't know what it is...

Hints and tips 200tdi engine removal

Ok all good so far and ready for removal Connected my crane up to the 2 lifting eyes on the head and ready to lift. Lifted a little and no movement at mounts at all and bell housing still sealed. It just lifted the whole car upwards so stopped there. The studs are still in the mounts and the...

Hints and tips 200tdi engine removal

Hi guys, Removing my broken engine tomorrow morning to swap it for a working one. It's a 200tdi disco engine in a 110 defender and is the 'set back to the bulkhead' fitment. Researched it a bit but as I have never removed one just checking for last minute tips, like best place to start, and...

    200tdi Cylinder head

I paid £75 and £50 for last 2 I bought it last 6 months. You may well get £150 but that will be relying on someone needing one as don't think someone would pay £150 for a spare

Mileage to high, what to do

Ok, done! A nice productive day. I have bought an engine on its own that I will drop straight in and also 4 conrods and Pistons (used) to fix the engine that comes out. Just need to read up on the best way to remove my engine now to make sure it all goes as smooth as possible

Mileage to high, what to do

I have another car but want the defender ready for winter as lots of back roads to work. Hmmm might look at engine option, just thought if I get disco for £350 I might make £150-200 back which is much cheaper than £500 engine. Both are 2 hrs away so don't want to look at both

Mileage to high, what to do

ok, So I have sort of broken my engine 200tdi conversion. Water ingress and now it's running on 3 so suspect bent conrod. Time and money is an issue at the minute as I am building an extension and winter is fast approaching. I don't know if my engine will have the ladder frame bolts through...

    300tdi split expansion

Did you replace the expansion tank cap also. Who tested your head gasket and what did he test as sounds more head gasket for that sort of pressure. Is the car overheating on temp gauge

Does fitting another engine affect value?

What's mileage on your engine. No ladder frame on 300 so you can pretty much rebuild it in the vehicle. Parts are quite cheap also. So if you rebuild the one you have you will save yourself £400 on buying another engine if you planned to rebuild one anyway. Only expensive bits are conrods and...
