    Hi I have a 2.25 series 3 petrol that I have bought as a project when I bought it they said it does run but there is a issue with the starter solenoid so I had it put on a trailer got it back fitted a new starter solenoid, but I think I have a few more issues the dizzy has been swapped...

    Can anyone tell me what standard boost pressure should be I believed my engine was stock and never been messed with but I fitted a boost gauge today (tapped into inlet) and its reading 15 Psi is this right?

    Using my original 2.5 na air box but I'm having to run a 2 metre hose from the top of it down under the intercooler pipe under the alternator to the turbo I'm thinking this needs to be shorter surely this would restrict air flow? Obviously got the wing intake going into it as well looks factory...

    Could it not be pump timing causing the black smoke if I'm getting a diesel knock as well?

    I've not touched the star wheel I'm just thinking that may be causing excessive smoke not sure if the previous owner had messed as the seals missing on the smoke screw

    When its ticking over sounds sweet just get the diesel knock when revving also seems to come around 2300 rpm and can be heard when letting off the throttle as the revs drop, the black smoke is driving me mad but I think the star wheel may need turning back a few teeth

    got a 200tdi 12L had the cambelt chaned and now I have a diesel knock and its black smoking excessively going to try and advance/retard the timing but wich way do I go?

    I think the tyre size is the main issue with the mpg but I'm definitely going to check timing etc

    Thanks for the advice guys I think my timing may be out slightly as its only been poor mpg since the cambelt was changed

    Yeah when I mean another gear its just noisy on motorways etc and I do alot of traveling, I thought of buying a new Ashcroft 1.2 and then selling mine on as its still under warranty but I just wanted to make sure it's a good investment and modification I think the poor mpg is down to tire size
