I would definetly repair the wire to the cps, and also check the wiring to it near the bell housing it's very prone to damage and is very sensitive, can you get anyone to plug it in for diagnostics to see if it's getting a noisy crank position?
Does your temp gauge ever drop to the resting position when your lumpy idle occurs? I had an odd idle a few years ago pulled my hair out for a bit then changed the coolant temp sensor and problem sorted. Just an idea it helped me out at the time
Probably not "worth it" from a performance point of view as most td5's don't seem to struggle on the standard radiators but the allisport stuff does look better built for longevity and it is very nice looking stuff too only you know what that's worth to yourself
I'm about to change the intercooler on my td5 defender, I have been looking at the allisport one the alive ultimate and the bas hi flow. anyone got any helpful advice to make choosing easier?
Also worth checking cps I had some very odd intermittent starting isssues which I eventually traced back to the cps, now starts first time all the time
Looks pretty solid but for me at least it would lose out by being fiddlier to fit so I'd be less inclined to use it when only leaving the car for a short while whereas now is use the x eng one whenever I leave the car
It is how I have mounted mine but I suppose it could be bolted straight through the rubber matting already in place but that would be less secure I think
