Right finally getting around to ordering parts for this, the only layshafts I can fine are britpart...any one used one?

Hi no nothing like that, all looks good, I'm tempted to say as new, the bearings all look new as well. I wonder if a previous owner, took it apart, realised the layshaft was knackered, changed a few things ( I haven't found a gasket in it yet!) and put new bearings in and sold it on to who I got...

Thanks again James I had a look but didn't find anything as low as that. I looked on Landover direct as someone posted above but there was no listing for series box parts. Where do you recommend to buy from please

Unless my current box breaks soon I'm going to put this to one side for now.I'll look out for a decent layshaft and first gear and then carry on with this, I'm only doing about 1000 miles tops a year so no need to rush

What's the damage on laygear from?

Nope! But better now than when I've struggled to switch them over and find I've fitted a fubard gearbox

Righty ho done some more dismantling, to be honest more than I was expecting... Removed the selectors, jamed it into a gear like James said, removed layshaft nut (wasn't on tight) pulled belhousing and still didn't separate, bit of a jiggle and both shaft s came out together. Oh well. Don't...

Thank you james that's tomorrows job sorted. Was the main shaft pulling out because I haven't undone the lay shaft bolt?

...so got the clutch thingy off didnt realised bell housing wouldnt come off without pulling the main shaft with it, and I carnt get layshaft nut off because I've nothing to hold onto on other end of mainshaft... hope that makes sense.will have to use a wooden post and my son holding it tomorrow...

Thank you for all the replies so far. Yes it had an overdrive on before i got it. Im going to swop the missing bits off my old box. Ok I've just had a poke around in there and moved all through all the gears and all looks good to me,the only noise is when I push down and turn the mainshaft from...

Ok so top cover off.. Apart from a strange silver instant gasket stuff all looks ok, nothing looks broken everything looks shiney and new. Anything else I can check while cover is off?

It seems to, certainly no noises Thanks for your help so far, I'm sure I'll have more questions when I get the top off!
