Know its a pain but if it was mine , first I would do the low quality one again , then try it out . And check that the retaining spring clips (whatever you call em) are well located in grooves of UJ.

Did you split the shaft when doing the UJs ? and pit it back on same splines.

pulley bearing probably shot replace it. or insert penny at 10 o clock position for quick temporary fix.

Yes I have seen one with zeus gears. Maybe have it checked if you buy,only takes an hour.

I had same problem last week , but it was 15 years old. drove a few days with no rear prop and diff lock on . I had to replace the flange going into diff a pig of a job, as one of the 3 holes had enlarged, check condition of yours.

Did my 300tdi timing belt today. All went fine , I tightened the 27mm dog nut to 80nm and then tried the extra 90 degree turn as per Mr Haynes , got it to about 60 degrees with 4ft extension bar but I chickened out as it felt I would do damage to threads or brake something.Should I leave it so...

Have a 300tdi and would like to fit a coolant level sensor in expansion tank. I believe the classic range rover had one and its suitable to fit to 300tdi expansion tank , does any know the part number ? or any information on this. Thanks

I am really impressed with that guys and delighted to hear so, because read in a popular land rover mag that the r380 gearbox needs replacement every few years and is troublesome ,even the later ones !

Would anyone have an idea of the expected mileage from a well minded 300tdi r380 gearbox. i.e. oil changed at intervals and sensibly driven. Mine currently has 122k and runs fine ?

I had same problem at 60mph check your prop in a vice splines and UJs . good luck.
