FL1: motor, modifications, conversion & engine swaps [K series 1.8]

A mildly tuned 1.8 Turbo, with an MG ZT engine tune on it. Made 181bhp Max Hits 115bhp (Max output of an N/A 1.8) at 3,000rpm and keeps climbing Hits 118lb ft at less than 1500rpm I want mine on a dyno now :D

    Freelander 1.8 Turbo

Just done the sums... All in all, and not including labour, it has cost just short of £1500 to get to this point. Though this includes a full set of Superpro bushes and rear wishbone Bushes, new clutch, new timing belt, Prop CV boot, oil/filters Still, it's very difficult to walk past it to...

    Freelander 1.8 Turbo

It wasn't easy, it wasn't cheap. But every time I drive it, it makes me smile :D The brakes are utter ****e. A heavy stop from 70-20mph while see the pedal sink to the floor. I imagine a 2nd heavy stop would see nothing but fade, and a pair of brown trousers would be needed Going to have to...

    Freelander 1.8 Turbo

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P1p1ZwBHmCw :D Lucky enough to have had it on some private ground this morning. Can confirm it pulls like a train up.to 100mph, and still keeps pulling!

    K series 1.8 fuel economy

    Freelander 1.8 Turbo

KV6 and Autobox are heavy lumps, around 100kg extra IIRC. Weight plays a big part in it too. Hoping to get rid of some unnecessary weight too. Bits and pieces that are not needed. Every little helps ;)

    Uprated diff mounts....

Engine tie bar is a good idea too. Couldn't find them on Egay though

    Uprated diff mounts....

Yellow, Orange, Green, Blue, Black, Red.... What's the stiffest version?
  13. D

    Uprated diff mounts....

The turbo terror is kicking up the nose of the diff under hard acceleration, and is hitting the bottom of the fuel tank. Diff mount itself is not split, and looks in good condition. Is there any solutions for a stronger set of mounts, or polybushed for them?

may not be popular... lowering a FL1

I was told I wouldn't get the 1.8T from a Rover to work in a Freelander

    New discs and pads

I see Terrafirma discs mentioned above. I had them fitted to my Disco 3, for 14 months/8k miles. They came off due to a judder through the brake pedal...

    New discs and pads

I have a spare set of new discs and pads, no longer need them. EBC Greenstuff pads, and new discs (not EBC though) Yours for £90 :)

may not be popular... lowering a FL1

I looked into this with the turbo There is a set of off the shelf springs that lower it 30 mm, but make no differentiation between petrol and diesel, or auto/manual. Bear in mind that a 1.8 with manual box, will weigh around 120kg less on the front axle over an auto TD4/KV6, I can't see how...

    Freelander 1.8 Turbo

It has the bog standard factory fit dump valve currently fitted. Sounds a bit louder than normal as it's using a big cone air filter

    Freelander 1.8 Turbo

    As above :-)
