if a rrc has a hole fill it with rustproofing!! I'm pretty sure the pillars are sealed from the interior! :p:p

Petrols are a delight to drive!! diesels are ponderous except for the "peppy" 119hp vm 2.5. :D look for rust as previously stated especially the sills, chassis, crossmembers and brake lines!!

Back in the early 2000s i had a 1989 rrc trb'd 2.4vm i've hunted high and low and cant find out what the TRB'd bit means? was it something to do with the engine? Her number plate was G27 PNF. just curious.. cheers. :D

it was thirsty! i towed a twin axle trailer with a jaguar mk2 on it, 6mpg was the average!! i had a suspicion that the carbs were unbalanced and too rich! according to a mechie i knew the carbie models should easily see 16mpg. :eek::D

19mpg 2001 4.6 not bad eh!. my first rangie a 1974 3.5 did 8-12 mpg.

When i bought my 01 rr 4.6 she was like a church mouse the engine was almost inaudible. Now she makes a slight tap tap tap only when HOT it disappears if i raise the idle slightly TAPPETS or LINERS? i used 10w40 shell helix hx7 and a MANN oil filter. :D

No experience regarding rustoleum unfortunately. Don't introduce water because spraying a coating onto even Damp metal will cause it to corrode coz chassis take an absolute age to dry oot lol :D

WD40 is good stuff BUT as you say it isn't a long term solution :D I would definitely recommend a Hard coating "paint" instead of a thick tar like stuff because it has a habit of letting rust grow unnoticed especially if its painted on a dirty chassis :mad: :)
