    It's horrible living in Dorset.......

Voluntary Restraint – Copehill Down (Salisbury Plain).

All VRO signs are now confirmed in place, with additional signage from Tread Lightly. all of the soft Plain byways are presently in a terrible state and restraint is requested on all routes. We run a very real risk of permanent closure of some of these routes so please spread the word.

Freelander 1 Cheap td4 fuel pumps

Those who buy cheap pumps experience them frequently..... Given what a filthy job it is (assuming you have a later td4 with the pump in the wheel arch) I'd rather pay for a known brand and quality.

Freelander 1 Does anybody have a TD4 that starts?

I did have one that starts, but I've lent it to a mate while his car is in for repairs, so technically I don't have one that starts right at this moment.

Voluntary Restraint – Copehill Down (Salisbury Plain).

Thanks for posting this. We nearly lost this section of the plain for good last Christmas; if we see a repeat of the massed abuse of the route and off-piste "play" this year Wilts CC and the MOD will inevitably consider permanent closure.

Other Winter tyres: how to choose the right ones

Scorpion ATR? Run those on my Disco3. Brilliant all purpose tyre, but I still swap them for winter tyres (Dunlop Winter Sport 255/55/19) when temperatures on the morning commute are < 5° Currently running Conti CrossContact AT on the Freelander and did debate winter tyres last year, but from...

    TD4 (2004) Injector problem

Now THAT is worth knowing. I take it these were your current injectors? Did they sonic clean them and check for cracks etc? If they did that for the price then I'll add them to the list of suppliers worth using.

Other Winter tyres: how to choose the right ones

For all those who believe they don't need winter tyres on a 4x4, consider how your brakes and steering work...... does having 4 driven wheels make your tyres stick to the road better when braking or cornering? (spoiler: The answer is no)

Freelander 1 Automatics: as good in the snow and what to look out for

Arguably better in slippery situations as you don't need to feather the clutch for a soft pull away. I've had both and won't go back to a manual. The failed boxes are usually down to incorrect servicing - either the wrong fluid (or not enough - usually due to not getting the box to the right...

    TD4 (2004) Injector problem

Are you taking the proverbial? Refurbed Injectors at that price are likely to be a bit hit or miss. Under £100 is gambling on getting something made of marzipan.

    TD4 (2004) Injector problem

Had similar to Niffty earlier this year. Leakback showed No1 was shot, but when replaced it just pushed the fault to No.2 - obviously all were worn to some extent and as each was replaced it just moved the backpressure to the next weak injector. Replaced all 4 and we're golden. As regards...

    power to interior lights

Wot 'e said.... You could, however, switch to panel LEDS for much more light at much lower power consumption hence not running down the main battery.

    TD4 Kerferkled Drivers seat !

Rails are identical for 3 and 5 door and are integral to the seat base. Disconnect the battery before you remove the connector for the seatbelt tensioner!

    TD4 Fuel pressure sensor confusion

I know this is an old thread, but as I replaced my fuel rail pressure sensor yesterday I thought I would take some pictures to show the difference in the attenuator length. Old sensor and attenuator is on the left of each picture. You can just see the original crush washer on the original...

    Fuel pressure sensor replacement question

Took me about 60 minutes to do the harness. You MUST either do this under cover or on a dry day as you will be opening the ECU harness connectors and don't want any rain getting in there! Attention to detail is key - make sure you are absolutely certain you have identified the right connectors...

Front speakers failed - and wet!

Drain holes are good. The connectors were soaking and had a damp black residue all over them that appeared to be from badly corroded copper. Speakers I've ordered are a couple of mm shallower mounting depth than the factory ones, although they do come with an optional rubber cap on the back...

Front speakers failed - and wet!

I need to see how the original membrane was positioned. There's one on the inside of the door directly behind the door card, but nothing behind that and of course the speaker passes through that membrane. Can't see how a membrane would be installed in between the inner and outer door skins?

Front speakers failed - and wet!

Realised recently that I have only been getting sound from the rear speakers so did some digging today. Turns out both front speakers are dead and both had sopping wet connectors, so clearly not very well waterproofed. Tweeters are fine (although rubbish) as they aren't in the door cavity...
