R380 Gear Box Oil ? Yes I did search :o)

James I did not take apart the gearbox..PO said it was working fine with no issues, so thats why I wanted to keep its good state for longevity hence the oil question. Yes its funny with the R380 and I am guessing the LT77 too, how their condition will determine which oil and viscosity they...

R380 Gear Box Oil ? Yes I did search :o)

The 100% fully synthetic oils always works well in my experience, I have no doubt that the Difflock Evo 1 is great too..the problem with that is getting it here. I would shell out the cash on that easily knowing that it will work well and protect the internals from necessary wear. I have used...

    300tdi stalling every few minutes

Dont know if you have one fitted..check for the sedimenter and clean if its there..but like everyone said, it could be drawing air into the fuel system. The sedimenter has a cover seal which can leak too, the plastic wing bung is bound to break easily, buy one before hand along with the two seals.

R380 Gear Box Oil ? Yes I did search :o)

My Defender did not come with a gearbox oil cooler (its a row Spec) wish it did, will see if I can source one here or get an aftermarket one. There is Valvoline MTL94 locally but its in the 75-90W range. Thanks.

R380 Gear Box Oil ? Yes I did search :o)

Hi Mates, yes MTF94 is what LR switched to from ATF. MTF94 is said to be in the weight range of 75W-80W with a viscosity at 10cSt at 100*C as opposed to ATF which is between 6.5 to 7.5cSt at 100*C I am in the tropics where the humidity is high at times so ambient average temps are mostly 30*C...

200 tdi not starting!! New to Defenders but I'm certainly learning how to work on them :)

I just drew a pin out diagram for you, NOTE that this is for the Lucas 57SA ignition switch..you should be able to measure or mark your wires, since you connected your gauges, you ought to be technically oriented.

200 tdi not starting!! New to Defenders but I'm certainly learning how to work on them :)

Incidentally, I just uploaded some pics of my ignition switch service. If you have the time and patience (tools too) you can dissemble your ignition switch, see if its repairable. You have to spend some time drilling the fasteners out and pulling apart the switch carefully. You must use a good...

Sandy Landy will be rebuilt, just to make her new again.

Serviced the ignition switch. I used red Locktite on the ignition clamp bolts. .

Sandy Landy will be rebuilt, just to make her new again.

Here is the bulk head mod I did. Right behind the support for the widow frame was another hole I am guessing for the single cab cap option. I used this to fabricate a bulk head support since I cut part of the rear bulkhead for more seating room. The rusting looking stuff on the left is my...

Sandy Landy will be rebuilt, just to make her new again.

Its been almost 3 years since I bought this Landy and working on it off and on. I ordered a lot of stuff for it both from the UK and US so getting back to it almost full time now. I have decided to pull off the top and windows, found some rust spots which I repaired using heavier gauge material...

    P38A Hand brake Lever compatibility

Thanks Brian..it might be the RR Classic they used. One guy wrote this "Not the first to do this, but having been irritated by the constant knocking of my left ankle against the handbrake on my 300 TDi, I swapped the Defender item for a Range Rover handbrake [off a LSE]." Not too sure what LSE...

    P38A Hand brake Lever compatibility

Hi Mates, I would like to do a hand brake lever mod to my defender. Most posts I have read so far indicates that the P38 lever was used but I have the option of getting a Disco 1 lever. I would like to know if the two are the same or close in terms of the cable being used and mounting...

    110 csw chassis reinforcement

From what I can recall, there are no weak points on the chassis and the 110 non military ones are almost the same between CSW, 3 doors, double cabs etc. If there were that many which failed we all would have been on the hunt for new or better ones. Water can get into to some areas, but apart...

Boguing, you are the only mate who did not think that my observation was rum induced like the other jealous sober clowns here LOL, all good fun and teasing. One of the guys here did ask if I had an adjustable panhard rod leading into that direction, thanks for the help again. Upon doing some...
