Hi Mates,
I would like to do a hand brake lever mod to my defender. Most posts I have read so far indicates that the P38 lever was used but I have the option of getting a Disco 1 lever. I would like to know if the two are the same or close in terms of the cable being used and mounting points/mounting dimensions please.
P38's here are rare, I can more get Disco 1 ones easily.

Thanks.

The P38 and the Disco 2 tend to share parts. Disco 1 a lot more like the RR classic. Never seen the brake levers side by side though.
Thanks for the reply.
Here are some pics of it done, would you be able to tell which one this is, the P38 or RRC? Thanks.

Thanks Brian..it might be the RR Classic they used. One guy wrote this "Not the first to do this, but having been irritated by the constant knocking of my left ankle against the handbrake on my 300 TDi, I swapped the Defender item for a Range Rover handbrake [off a LSE]." Not too sure what LSE stands for.

Another said "You might just need to consider which donor lever you used to ensure compatibility with the existing cable fitting, as I said, I used a Disco 2 lever for my Td5 90, earlier handbrake cables may have different fittings."

Thanks.

LSE was the Long wheel base Special Equipment model of the Range Rover Classic.

Brought out in late 1992 and into 1994, they had a longer chassis and bigger rear leg room....it was also fitted with a 4.2 V8 and air suspension - it was the test bed for the P38A which ultimately had the same length chassis in the end.
