    Defender 90 td5 electrical problem?

It sounds like they've left an earth off somewhere you could try running a jump lead from a nice clean point on the engine directly to the battery (sometimes you can get a back feed down an accelerator or speedo cable) if that makes no difference try putting it on a nice clean earth point on the...

    Clutch Drag Issues - Advice

if the clutch has been ok for 5000 miles I'd be pretty confident its a hydraulic problem

    Brakes! Please help!

with the engine off pump the pedal if it goes hard then the brakes are ok if the pedal creeps then the garage have probably not bled the brakes properly

    Advise Please

Yes the turbo has gone, see if theres any oil left in the engine. If there is take the turbo off completely join the oil pipes and see if the engine runs and if so does it sound ok?

    200tdi blue smoke?

a bit off brake fluid down the bores can unstick sticky rings, make sure you get most of it back out again before running! And do it before you change the oil

    Clutch Drag Issues - Advice

don't split the box! It can only be a clutch problem, if there are no leaks it will more than likely be the master cylinder

A nice dilemma - advice please

Having bought a few brand new cars in the past, now I'm older and skinter, if I ever had enough money to do it again I would buy one that was a year or 2 old. At 2 years old its lost the biggest part of its depreciation had any recall jobs done but still looks and feels like the dogs. Its a...

registering a uk landy in france-certificate de conformitie problem

My mum and dad lived in france for 8 years they had a total mare registering their little clio and then when they came back to the uk the French would not accept that they had sold it! If you've got a uk address you can use for insurance I would do that, that way you don't need a uk mot or tax...

    Anyone tried these?

Yep I had one on my last freelander, the thermostat position is the reason why the K series head gasket fails all the time so this sorts that out. My dad has still got it and hes had no problems with it. I would definitely recommend it

fair enough then, just passing on a bit of advice from someone who's been in the job too long!

    Will it ever end

ahh right ok then, still not great so close to Christmas. But for the future it is well worth getting a few opinions before taking the first quote. If you wanted a room decorating you would probably get a few quotes and recommendations first before shelling out a couple of grand!

    Will it ever end

how could it have a hole in the radiator and you not know? Were you losing water before it went for a service? What do you mean "fuel value?" Did you have any problems with the brakes before the service? Why do rusty wheel nuts need replacing? I would put it in for an mot at a different...

    Battery light staying on

yes that's true but only if there was a short from the light to the alternator, it wouldn't rule out a possible PCB fault within the dash that may cause the fault on the light. I just like to be thorough :)

    Battery light staying on

if the alternator is kicking out 13.9 v then it may be ok, it could be a short on the battery light wire, disconnect it from the alternator (generally the single small wire) put a test light on the + side of the battery and put it on the alternator where the wire plugged on, with the engine off...

    m.o.t fail!!!

That looks pretty easy to patch up, I would repair it and take to another Mot station for the retest. You can not fail the repair if it is welded correctly. If the guy has got a bee in his bonnet he can be arsy about the quality of the repair then you would need to ask for an appeals form (I...

P38 4.0L V8 loosing coolant but cannot see where!

sorry my mistake I got confused! the 4.0 is the same block, I'm not really sure how the block can be properly pressure tested with a knackered head gasket or without the head on at all without a lot of very expensive specialist equipment which your average garage would not have :/

P38 4.0L V8 loosing coolant but cannot see where!

pretty sure it will be a slipped liner on a 4.6 it's a pretty common fault, generally you will need to do a liner mod to cure it :(

    V8 replacement

I would personally buy an old V8 3.5 - 3.9 and re shell and re ring it if you can get an x bolted block then better still. Ive had a few V8's and not without their issues but I do love them and the parts are relatively cheap with endless combinations. RPi etc are mega bucks not bad if your...

    Starting problem (intermittent)

maybe the fuel filter but probably air, replace the fuel filter and leak off pipes and try fitting a non return valve are probably the easiest, quickest and cheapest fixes to try first :)
