    Mould in coolant channels!?

I have a Disco TD5 which I bought some time ago, supposedly with a good engine. It has been run recently but soon over heated. Upon stripping the engine down, I found really dry coolant channels with coolant crystals here and there and mould! To me, this looks like coolant has not been run...

    Cam difference between 10p & 15p?

Well I would expect a difference given the different numbers and plunger travel as you say but I've measured the lobes fairly accurately and, while there are small differences on lobes along one camshaft, there are no larger differences between camshafts. It was the duration that I have no way...

    Alternator banjo

Hi Does anyone know the length and thread pitch of the alternator/vacuum pump banjo please? I know it's an M10. Part number YYG100620. Thanks

    Td5 running rough

Of course, I stand corrected. I'm not sure what I was thinking. I did adjust mine once. It's still running so I should know what I did.

    Td5 running rough

If you look on the front end of your camshaft you will see some numbers 1-5. As you rotate the cam, there's a line by each number which lines up with a little notch in the casting by the locking pin hole. As you line up each one, work on the corresponding rocker. Back off the screw from the...

    TD5 Auxillary Belt

The alternator could have the wrong pulley on it. Where did you get it from?

For Sale D2 diffs and more

I have been breaking a D2 and I'm wondering if it's worth removing the front & rear diffs or just scrap it. £40 each plus post? I have other parts too, body panels in Rioja Red, I think. On Suffolk coast.

    Air Suspension D2

Yes, your solenoids valves could be playing up as I mentioned in a previous post. They open to let air to each bag but if they don't close, or open by themselves later, the air will come out again.

    Cam difference between 10p & 15p?

Does anyone know the difference between camshafts from a 10p ERR6676 and a 15p LGC000310? I can't see any visual differences and measuring the cam lobes gives values that are near as damn it the same. The only thing I can't measure with any certainty is duration but they look close enough by...

If you find that it's your solenoid valves that are faulty, I have a pair for sale - £20.

    Just bought a TD5

Haha, my Mk1 is in a dire state and sometimes I wish I hadn't bought it. Then again, if it stays where it is for the next 20 years, I should make some money on it!

Disco 2 Heater, coolant, head gasket

I hope your problem is fixed. Just be aware that it might come back over time. I had similar issues and drove 2000 miles after an HG change only to find the problem returned as the HG bedded in and combustion gasses found a route in to the coolant again. You should also to be sure to torque...

    Just bought a TD5

I am. I've had water cooled VWs all my life - except for a mis-guided purchase of a Citroen BX! Unfortunately, my Corrado was not built for hauling bags of cement and general crap so when I got my first Landy, I realised that it's what I should have been driving and the VW got relegated to the...

    Ifor Williams trailer

I have a 16' twin axle Ifor which carried my D2 back from Wales to the East Coast. It was a little top heavy but not too bad if you can drive properly. Certainly a lower flat bed would be better for a big vehicle but I also use it for general hauling and it tows extremely well, very stable...

What have you done to your Landie today.

I also fixed my engine oil leak. I had neglected to re-fit a stud to the front of the head. Tiny drops of oil were jumping out on to the fan which transported it up, down, left & right. There was oil everywhere, all over my newly rebuilt and cleaned engine :-(
