The inside just twists withing the outer cog

OK curiosity got the better of me and I opened her up Looks like both the end of the barrel and the plastic cog are broken. Cant really see how the mechanism "catches even if they werent chipped)

For anyone elses reference when searching on here. Mine was stuck in Diff lock, even tho the lever appeared to be over to the right. Tried the reversing trick for 200 years and its sorted. Id like to say I wont try that again, but its meant to be good to keep these things moving isnt it ?
