Disco 1 Lock Barrel turns - No locking

Happy New Yer!
Done all the usual searches, and all lock posts seem to be about the springs going.
I have a bit of a different issue.
Last night I put the key in to lock it, and felt a strange click, and the barrel no longer engages the lock mechanism. Just freely turns left and right.
I can lock via the internal button on the door, and central locking then engages on all doors.

Do I need a new barrel or is there something daft thats pinged off that connects the barrel to the lock.
Like a bit of insight before I start removing door card etc and making a mess
 
An issue with the 200 and early 300 is the plastic cam on the end of the key barrel which operates a micro switch in the door breaks. Take the door card of and have a look.

A plastic dog? You will have to ask what he means by the term. If it's like a plastic duck then it can live for 500 years plus :D

Sounds like the bar going from the door handle to the actuator to unlock the door has broken or come adrift ...
in may be the plastic 'overlock' piece that holds the bar in place ...
 
It may be that part #17 has popped out of part #15 ...
or summat else entirely ....

OK curiosity got the better of me and I opened her up
Looks like both the end of the barrel and the plastic cog are broken. Cant really see how the mechanism "catches even if they werent chipped)
