To buy or not to buy??

Makes perfect sense! Didn't know if it was a bit of a weird changeover year..

To buy or not to buy??

Yeah I think they look odd in their own! My thoughts exactly on the diesel front! Think will be ok for the three years or so I expect to get out of the Freelander. Yeah Im leaning towards td4, for the economy side of things. Is the difference vast auto/manual with fuel usage? Just spotted...

Freelander 1 New commercial van project

Oo are they cheaper on tax and insurance? Wonder what the legalities are of fitting rear seats?

To buy or not to buy??

Odd how they choose to put the fogs/spots there though, instead of the normal place in the bumper? Still thinking of a td4, although everyone i speak to is trying to put me off diesels as they are going to be priced off the road soon.. Just unsure auto or manual!

To buy or not to buy??

Ah ok, is a nudge bar removable? And I .Guessing the fog lamps will be a new bumper, if I wanted the normal type ones.

To buy or not to buy??

Couple more questions; Clutch change, is it full engine/gearbox out job? Is there some kind of mod for the front grill/bumper in the facelift that people bolt in over the stock set up? Seen a few, I think they look awful, but if it can be removed easy then no bother.. Finally, how come some...

To buy or not to buy??

Good info on the lights! Didn't realise they did any dancing about! I am perfectly handy with spanners and happy to do abit. It is really tempting to buy something that is cheap as possible and keep some cash back for fixing. Only issue as it will by my daily car and I need it to be reliable...

    Changing Sport Suspension

I think the sport ones say sport..? S is just the trim level I think.

To buy or not to buy??

Yeah I'm trying to wait out till spring. Just praying I don't need to put new discs and pads on my bmw before I get one! I guess it's just a case of assessing the general condition to give indication of how well its been looked after.

To buy or not to buy??

I think I would be a fool not to! That's also good to know.. what sort of mpg are you averaging?

To buy or not to buy??

Already sussed that thermostat mod! Haha Exactly as you mention is what scares me.. finding a known good head to replace the potentially cooked soft cheesy one. I would have to assume it has been cooked at some point in its life... I have read a fair chunk of your thread, it did scare me off...

To buy or not to buy??

Nice little insight there Rob, cheers! I wonder if the td4 would be a bit more comfortable on the motorway? I rarely see myself above 65 on motorway anyway now! The k series does scare me.. I'm happy changing head gaskets and stuff, but it appears to be far from that simple. I have seen some...

To buy or not to buy??

Possibly, I have seen a few now though.. Also is the wiring for steering wheel controls fitted to all cars? Seen a few without, but that would be handy.

To buy or not to buy??

Also, do some cars have PDC, without having the PDC button down on the RHS? I have seen a few with the sensors (or looks like) in the bumper, but no button?

To buy or not to buy??

i think I would prefer an auto. I can do any oil changes and stuff going forward and WORST case change the box... but with a manual, if there is an issue, its likely to be the clutch, which is a whole lot out job anyway! a clutch seems more likely to me on a higher mileage car than a fault on an...

To buy or not to buy??

I'd be happy to do it myself. Think I saw a solid flywheel conversion with clutch for about £500 somewhere, cheaper than a new DMF? I'd say at my budget the average is about 130k miles now. Obviously hard to tell if any fluids have been changed without draining, which I doubt I will manage on a...

To buy or not to buy??

Tis true, I want a 5 really. It would make life a lot easier loading things in and stuff. Dare I say it might one day be used as a family vehicle too... Just realised I am 30 next year... Really can't decide between auto and manual. I think in terms of driving I would prefer an auto, but in...

To buy or not to buy??

Interesting, 3 doors seem much cheaper/better value for money!

To buy or not to buy??

Another question, are the 3 door's shorter than the 5? Or are they like other cars where everything is then same except just bigger doors?
