    Slave cylinder troubles!

Yep, the opening and closing of the nipple was also key! And agree, you need at least 30psi in the tire for effect. The kit advises no more than 20psi, but I had to make my spare rock solid before I got a break through - which was a glorious moment I can tell you.

    Slave cylinder troubles!

Well, after many hours I finally got pressure and a steady stream of fluid. Probably a bit of air lurking so will leave the pedal depressed over night. For the record, I used one of those bleed kits that work with compressed air from spare tire - great and inexpensive little bit of kit you can...

I just found that out for myself! Damnit.

Thanks Brian, that’s encouraging to hear!

    Slave cylinder troubles!

Yes, nipple is on top... the question entered my mind when tightening the bolts, but was fairly sure I remembered seeing the nipple on top when removing the old one

    Slave cylinder troubles!

Hey guys, clutch pedal went on me a few days ago so got hold of a new master and a slave cylinder. Fitted the master no problem but when I got around to the fitting the new slave i noticed it was very hard to fit/insert into its fixture - there was a stiff springy/spongey resistance causing it...

Disco 2 Intermittent fuel leak - FPR?

Hey guys, So my disco 2 leaks fuel intermittently, as far as i can tell it happens for 30 secs or so after startup, and drips down from the bell housing onto the road. I’m 99% confident its coming from the FPR (I stuffed a paper towel down there and it came back soaked). After 30 seconds or...

    Disco 3 blowing air

Might be wroth checking the air filter. I drove through a very deep puddle once and sucked up a load of water - unbeknown to me the paper air filter got sodden and the engine sucked a hole through it. I drove around for a few days with a hissing before discovering the cause. Also relieved none...

    Phantom Oil Leak

Sorry mate - I have only just seen this reply! Glad you got it sorted! The problem for me wasn’t the turbo hose washer, it turned out to be a crack in the rotary filter housing! Shortly after writing this post, while waiting for a new housing (and during an extremely frosty week) it completely...

    Leaking FPR cause no start?

Hmmm, i’ll look into that too.. thanka

    Leaking FPR cause no start?

I can stick my hand underneath it and feel the fuel leaking, but if it’s a less obvious leak you can stuff a paper towel under it and run the engine for a few mins - that should tell you! It’s bolted to the lower left of the engine block on drivers side.. you have to reach under the manifold -...

    Leaking FPR cause no start?

Thanks Brian, if that’s the case then I’ll order a new one and try it. Just wasnt sure whether to get a new Crabkshaft Position Sensor too.

    Leaking FPR cause no start?

Hi guys, Disco TD5 cranks but won’t turn over - the Fuel Pressure Regulator is leaking a fair bit. Could this cause a no start? Cheers, Robb

    Cranking but not firing!

After closer inspection, I spotted fuel dripping down from the bell housing - it seems to be originating from the FPR block and leaks out when fuel pump is engaged/tuning over. It's not coming from the pipes, it seems to be coming from the regulator itself (it also leaks when I push it inwards)...

    Cranking but not firing!

And nope - no water, not recently. I replaced the water pump and centrifugal oil filter housing a few weeks ago, but can't see how that could have affected it.

    Cranking but not firing!

Gonna check the crankshaft position sensor tomorrow and give it a clean.. seems to be the thing that comes up first in all the searches. Thanks neilly.. what's FPR short for?

    Cranking but not firing!

Hey all, So the TD5 failed on me this morning. She turned over and started, but immediately cut out. She fired but never really got to ticking over normally.. just kind of wobbled and died. Now she turns over normally, but there's no hint of firing at all. Fuel pump SEEMS to be operating...

    Disco 2 Identifyig coolant leak

Just wanted to update this.. The leak was actually coming from the water pump. A fiddly job getting it out and replacing with a new one (£20 from ebay) but I am now watertight. The old pump was clogged up with 17 years of gunk and the coolant was leaking from a 'bleed' hole.

    Phantom Oil Leak

Hi all, I recently replaced the water pump on my 2000 disco td5 (really fiddly and awkward job, especially in the cold and rain) after a steadily increasing coolant leak. The water pump was blocked up with 17 years of gunk.. To get to the pump I had to completely remove the housing for the...
