The engine pictured is the oil engine used in VERY early Freelanders, I understand it was first used as the auxiliary engine for the Ark, running on Whale Oil. Later Freelander 1's had a quality BMW 2 litre diesel (TD4).

So what did you find from checking the fuel pump and/or filter? May be worth looking at the fuel pressure regulator (if fitted). This should lift the fuel pressure during high manifold pressure - which happens when you put your foot down.

I have only seen 3 doors in NZ with that body kit. Maybe all sent here and to Japan had them?????? Can it just be removed and you are left with a standard body side?

Stock MG 1.8 VVC is good for 160BHP with a nice torque curve. Good turbo install on a 1800cc engine should be good for something over 220BHP.

Not having to carry a large lump of cast iron around helps. The K1.8 is a great engine, light and quite efficient as well as being good to work on. Just a pity it did not have more torque.

I had not seen that one. Ideally my next will be a facelift high spec TD4 FL1. The 2004 V6 could be made TD4 without too much stress. Buuuuuut....... By end of today we may own 2 houses, one more than we should. I NEED to get that situation sorted before spending any more money. Mind you...

Greta Valley. It suffered a little in the Canterbury quakes, but at the time EQC said it was pre-existing and the owner did not bother to get it reviewed, or fixed. So we get a good house that needs little more than a repaint and a little gib-stocking. Got a neat double garage and workshop.

I had this happen on a RR. One wheel sensor had come out a little and could not generate a good signal at low speeds. Check between the sensors and the tone wheels in the hubs with a 10thou feeler gauge. If one feels loose, gentle knock it in until the feeler gauge is snug.

How have you checked the sensors? Best way is to look for an error reported via fault codes. If you do not have an appropriate reader, try a test meter across the sensor while the wheel is slowly rotated, should see a consistent voltage flicker. A common issue I have found is sensors that...
