What did you do with your Range Rover today

Got brown Rover running happily today, with the choke cable working properly. MOT exemption starts on 1 Jan, and tax from 1 Apr. :)

    200tdi missfire

Any other symptoms? If it's fuel starvation, I'd check the fuel lines from the tank to the lift pump. The lift pump sucks fuel from the tank to the engine bay. If there's a small leak in a line between the tank and the pump, it sucks in air, which starves the engine of the fuel. Worth checking...

    Mounting Bowman style Antennas?

I know I'm coming to this very late, but I'm curious why you're mounting Bowman antenna on it when it looks like it's only had Clansman in its service life. If you really want to Bowman look, make sure you leave a Nokia 3310 on the dash ;) If you've not mounted it yet, have you thought of...

The show us your Range Rover thread

Where the analogy breaks down is that the police aren't financially incentivised to record drink drive deaths, whereas the NHS is. There were recorded cases of people without covid being placed on covid wards because they had respiratory symptoms. Those people inevitably (being vulnerable to...

    Hi folks

Welcome to Landyzone, lots of moral support and advice to be had. It'd be nice to see some pictures of your IIA especially if you're starting a rebuild!

The show us your Range Rover thread

I wish! Some snow to play in would be fantastic! (I could take the Rover out too I suppose :D)

The show us your Range Rover thread

I don't wish to be drawn into the general Vax debate, but the mechanism for herpes you've described isn't quite right. Once the Herpes virus is in your body, you have it. For life. Infection doesn't prevent you getting it again, because it never fully goes away. It lies dormant for variable...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

I've managed not to put petrol in Red Rover (the diesel one) so far. I'm hypervigilant every time I fill up now I've got Brown Rover (petrol) too. I'm hoping if I ever do make a mistake it's petrol in Red, not diesel in Brown - the 200TDI will burn petrol, not sure the Rover V8 would appreciate...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Filled up with diesel, no leaks, drove 150 miles, no vacuum in the tank. Really hoping this is the end of the saga of the buggered fuel system. Wonder what the next will be!

    Classic Buttercup has a leak

I'd consider replacing the cap if it's one that's meant to seal. I'd also double check it's not the fuel return or the breather that's leaking if the cap seals as it should. I've had the rear panel off mine in the last week and I've got no rubber seal, but don't get any diesel leaking where...

    'The save or scrap dilemma'

I've had a BMW X3 before, and it was bloody awful. The interior looked 15 years older than it was (it was only marginally more modern than my 1988 Rangie, and it was 20 years newer). The doors leaked, as they do on all BMWs. It was just nowhere near as nice as my Rovers. I've had hot hatches...

    'The save or scrap dilemma'

Some Landies with on board diagnostics are definitely in the Munchausen's camp! I just listen to mine, and it usually tells me what's up... eventually. And I usually find something else that's nearly wrong on the hunt for the original issue

    'The save or scrap dilemma'

The big difference to me is you can turn a car off to do jobs on it, fixing people is like a car you can't turn off, and it's a bigger problem if you do something that messes up how things are running :D

    'The save or scrap dilemma'

An old school, all mechanical grip, offroad beast type Landie. Some people don't think Freelanders are real Landies, though really they're just made for a different type of owner.

    'The save or scrap dilemma'

If you can handle the plumbing and wiring in people, cars should be a doddle!

    'The save or scrap dilemma'

I know, as the owner of a "proper" Land Rover (or two) I shouldn't say this, but it's pretty impressive that it's been so little trouble with 150k on the clock. Like others, I'd use anything but Britpart. I'd even use Britpart for anything where the part failing prematurely wouldn't cause real...

Seeking recommendations: fuel tank breather filter

Thanks very much! I'd found a similar filter to the first link that I thought looked good on the basis it's serviceable rather than using loads of the single use ones. Decision made, thanks very much for your help!

Seeking recommendations: fuel tank breather filter

It's been suggested it was emissions linked, perhaps a capture can of some sort for petrol that evaporated  I'm thinking of replacing the three with a single hose with a filter on it. The hoses aren't in great condition in places. This all started because a fuel hose between the tank...

Seeking recommendations: fuel tank breather filter

I'm not entirely sure how it was meant to work, but when I got to it the three running down the left hand side in that picture were cut off about a meter further on and resting on the fuel tank. So in theory the air should have been pulled up through those, into the fuel return hose / filler...
