What did you do with your Range Rover today

I've got two classics, a sensible (relatively speaking) daily with a 200TDI in, and a 3.5 V8 with carbs that uses most of its fuel getting to the local shell :D The P38 is growing on me, and I've always had a soft spot for the L322. Not so keen on anything newer, and (although I'm probably in...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

It was a 3.6, but it was lovely and smooth, and very wafty suspension compared to the 1988 daily driver Rangie! What usually goes wrong with the 3.6, if you're familiar enough to say? That's the one! And for the right engine, and a decent service history, I'd be looking at bankruptcy the first...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

It wasn't MY Rangie, all I've done in mine today is drive it to work, but I did service an L322 (lovely TDV8) today which meant my first time driving one (albeit a short drive). It might have been a very expensive service for me - going to be exercising all my self restraint now to avoid buying...

Today was MOT day for Red Rover... Passed first try! Hurrah! A few advisories (oil "leaks" just mean it's not empty yet!)

Buying my first RR advice welcome

Harry Metcalfe does a good guide to the TDV8, and recommends that setup over the other options available. It was his main vehicle for a good few years, which is a pretty good endorsement given some of what he's owned!

They're even worse than the smoke trying to escape from the wiring looms in older Rangies :D

    UK Newbie

Hello and welcome! As long as you don't swap it for a Evoke you'll avoid the baying mob ;)

new member & new car !

Your house sounds like a fun place to live! We've got a few other classics but not as impressive as your collection. An Alfa 105 and an MGB, and a Series 2A Landy are the only remaining oldies. I'm not sure if the 82 will stay. I'd like to keep it, but it'd be nice to pick something else up...

Solid footwells is good news! If the rear crossmember is gone it's not too bad. I've have the 88 a little over a year. Rear crossmember was OK when I got it, but was starting to go a couple of months ago so I had it replaced for a reasonable price. The 88 is my daily driver (it's got a 200TDI...

new member & new car !

A late welcome. It's going to be a beauty! I've got a brown 1982 and a red 1988, yours is a bit of a crossover in terms of styling (exposed filler cap and older interior, later mirrors, bumper and grill). Very cool! Other bits to check: rear crossmember is a common rot spot. The front...

About 85% is full on mine, I hadn't really thought about whether it was adjustable, maybe that's a job for the nicer weather that's sure to be along soon :D

Let's hope that's not a sign of things to come. I reckon I could usually guess how much fuel I need, knowing the capacity, and what it actually means when it says it's at half, two thirds or so on (they're not half a tank or two thirds though!) I imagine a lot of people (including my mother)...

That's a very tidy looking engine bay, I'll be ashamed to post any pictures of either of mine now!

What did you do with your Range Rover today

I wish that were so, sadly the wheels have "tubed" stamped on them, so figured better safe than sorry. Plus they won't be doing many miles on Brown Rover (especially not with the price of petrol now!) so at least a puncture will only cost the price of a new tube, not a new tyre. Trying to look...

Today's wallet drain: inner tubes so brown Rover can go back on Rostyle wheels and off the American styles offroad wheels on it at the moment.

It's not the right way to sort it, but, it'd be worth slapping a bit of jenolite or something similar on there to slow the bastid stuff down.
