It's going to be a beauty!

I've got a brown 1982 and a red 1988, yours is a bit of a crossover in terms of styling (exposed filler cap and older interior, later mirrors, bumper and grill). Very cool!

Other bits to check: rear crossmember is a common rot spot. The front footwells rot through (something to do with blocked drainage channels), starting in the very front corner. Top tailgate starts to go, and then rots out the bottom tailgate.

I put 20w50 mineral in the V8 and it runs fine.

Solid footwells is good news! If the rear crossmember is gone it's not too bad. I've have the 88 a little over a year. Rear crossmember was OK when I got it, but was starting to go a couple of months ago so I had it replaced for a reasonable price.

The 88 is my daily driver (it's got a 200TDI from a later Rangie in, so gets decent MPG compared to the V8s).
The 82 was parked on a farm for a decade and is a bit of a project, but it's coming along nicely now - starts first time every time, has all new fluids in, new tyres fitted, and looks a lot better than it did in November when I bought it. The bodywork still needs a bit of love, but underneath it's pretty solid.

Have you got a job plan for yours yet? Looks like you've got quite the collection aside from the Rover - very jealous!

i think i will replace the rear c/member whilst im there so it will all be future proof for a few more years !

the 82 sounds like my cup of tea ! love the 82 design, will you keep it once restored ? good thing the underside is solid makes life so much easier !

and yes first will be body and underside resto, then engine and all mechanics, lastly paint and then interior spruce up !

Your house sounds like a fun place to live! We've got a few other classics but not as impressive as your collection. An Alfa 105 and an MGB, and a Series 2A Landy are the only remaining oldies.

I'm not sure if the 82 will stay. I'd like to keep it, but it'd be nice to pick something else up that needs attention and restore that too. But we've got a few too many cars between us so I think the 82 would have to go before another project starts.
