It is an old thread. The original lynx was very good but I have heard bad things about the evo.

Land rover don't recommend machining the head but I would think light skimming might be ok.

Changed the oil pump sprocket bolt, rear crankshaft seal, spigot bush and bolted sump back on. Hoping to get engine back in car before xmas.

It was still in the donor car when I bought it so I did get to see it running. I was going to use the clutch from our car which I only fitted in March but there is plenty of material on this drive plate.

Managed to get hold of an engine locally. Now on stand in garage. The cheap stand off eBay looks only just strong enough. I want to change oil pump bolt and install injectors before trying to fit on car. I have ordered a service kit so will drain oil and change filters. Anything else I should...

I never looked as the engine was curtains. There was loads in the sump and I had already changed washers and seals. The rest of the engine has gone for scrap.

I have tested the No. 1 injector pocket for cracks on the original cylinder head that had been removed. This small crack showed. Is it big enough to have caused quite a lot of diesel to escape into the rocker shaft area? Thanks.

I will wait to see if I can find a crack in the cylinder head. It will probably work out cheaper to get a used one.
