Changed the reverse light switch. Is the cable supposed to be tied to something or just hanging free?

    Serendipity

I once found a set of our keys on a branch of a tree in the front garden They were rusty and had obviously been there a few years. One other bonus today is that I noticed that I had left a spanner on the clutch bleed nipple when i bled it last.

    Serendipity

Took the starter off and used a repair kit to change starter solenoid contacts and plunger. Fitting the starter back on I fitted the two bolts and then went to fit the nut at the back. Dropped the nut and lost it somewhere. I went to find another and realised I had been trying to fit the nur...

    Quick questions about fuel

As the injectors take their fuel from a common rail, I would doubt if any data would be accurate for individual injectors. Brim to brim is the most accurate way for overall consumption. Bear in mind though, if you know you are measuring fuel consumption you will drive accordingly, whether...

    Electrical problem with indicators.

No, I forgot that bit and dived straight in. I will definitely remember next time.

    Electrical problem with indicators.

I always fear the worst. A bit of a scare though - the engine was immobilised. After switching off and on and pressing the fob buttons a few times, it cured itself. Thanks again.

    Electrical problem with indicators.

Swapped the IDM today and I now have both indicators working. Thanks a lot. Also got lots aof spare fuses and relays.

    Problem with interior fuseboard connector.

I have sorted it. I could see it better in the picture than I could in situ.

    Problem with interior fuseboard connector.

The replacement fuseboard came today but I must have done something to one of the connectors. There are two similar ones 587 and 588. The yellow one goes in OK but I must have done something to the grey one. There are tabs that should be flush but are stopping the connector going in. See...

Disco 2 Blowing exhaust manifold, again. Probably need new cylinder head; what am I looking at?

I think it is stories like this that lead to mistrust of garages and doing as much on these cars as we can. There is also the cost saving and satisfaction.

    pressure reg

I fitted the Bosch one as it came and the engine runs good. I didn't think to check the hole size before fitting though.

Other what have u done on ur disco today

Drove it for a couple of miles for the first time in months after changing the engine. Temperature gauge not reached operating temp. but I can exchange temperature sensor if that persists. Seems smooth enough but time will tell. Fingers crossed.

    Brakes

If you have a diagnostic unit, try power bleeding the system. Someone suggested to me to use ptfe tape on the bleed nipple threads and I think that helped.

    Electrical problem with indicators.

It wouldn't, but the indicator flashing is controlled by the BCU and IDM. The direction indicators and hazard warning lamp operation is controlled by the Body Control Unit (BCU), Intelligent Driver Module (IDM) and two electronic relays in the passenger compartment fusebox. The IDM and the...

    Electrical problem with indicators.

Thanks. Do they come with the passenger compartment fusebkxes? Do they unplug like a relay?

    Electrical problem with indicators.

The Left hand indicators on our 2003 discovery 2 td5 work fine. The right hand indicators don't work at all. Not with stalk switch, hazard switch or key fob. Tried connecting up a trailer board and exactly the same. Tried swapping the relays around in the passenger compartment fuse box and...
