Replacement Panoramic Roof for 2000 Discovery 4

I think that you will find that many windscreen replacement companies will not touch them. We do them fairly regularly for Land Rover dealers but we prefer that they remove the headlining and associated parts. I think the book time is about eleven hours for the whole job, so the words panoramic...

Remote central locking wiring fault and the way round it.

Thread revival. This is exactly the scenario on my brother's 2005 D3 HSE during the last week. Remote central locking packed up but had been blowing the 30A fuse at random for a few months. Investigation showed that the nearside sill wiring channel was full of water and the nearside front carpet...

    Disco 1 Rear passenger window

You have to remove the top door frame from the door shell; quite straightforward, just nuts and bolts.

    Disco 1 Headlight earth

I had a similar problem with my 1995 D1 V8 and found that it was the earth on the horizontal surface on the nearside inner wing just behind the headlamp.

Disco 2 Discovery II (TD5) 2004 - Rear Door won't open from inside, WILL open from outside and unlocks fine!

I am in the process of rebuilding the innards of my D1 rear door after some paintwork and suggest that you check that the child lock is fitted correctly. On the D1, it's a very simple plastic latch that engages in a hole in an arm that comes down from the lock assembly. If it's been removed at...

    Disco 1 Rear crossmember revealed

I have had my 95 Disco 1 V8 for over four years and had some concerns about the rust on the bottom edge of the rear door aperture for some while. I had seen scary posts about rear crossmember corrosion and decided it was time to see what mine was like. I had a very pleasant surprise when I...

    Disco 3 (LR3) Steering fault

My brother has a 2005 Disco 3 TDV6 with a strange fault on the steering. The problem is that the steering sometimes feels really light from cold and the vehicle seems to float around on the road, almost like my old Disco 1 before I replaced all of the front and rear suspension bushes. After two...

    Windscreen replacement

The original D1s (200) used a rubber glazed screen which was the same as a Range Rover Classic screen but with a printed band on the lower section to hide the dashboard. The rubbers often need to be replaced but will not normally be covered by the insurer as this is considered as 'betterment'...

    Rotary coupler

Extremely expensive new, somewhere around £200. Bought mine used for about £25 plus postage. Not really repairable as they seem to be very fragile and very sensitive to being turned when not installed as intended. Ask me how I know!

    doors and dash queries

You will also need a very short right angle drill with a short drill bit to put the pilot holes in the dash top for the screws. Mine came from Machine Mart if I remember correctly.

    doors and dash queries

Three door and five door units are the same, I believe. It is possible to install the dash kit without removing the screen. I have done it with a struggle using a right angled screwdriver but you need to get the shortest one that you can find. It's much easier with the windscreen removed if...

    Cutting out and power trouble.

Check the king lead from coil to distributor. Every standard lead that I have seen has been 'only just' long enough. Mine has cut out because of this before I replaced the lead set.

    Water! everywhere!

Short answer is everywhere! It took me two years to track down and eliminate the leaks in my 95 V8. Some pointers to start you on the search: Front inner wings rear vertical edge, bottom of the A pillars, holes in the footwells, door seals, front door plastic membranes, rear quarter glass...

    Over fuelling and running badly.

This proved to be a useful link for me with my EFI. It now runs very smoothly. Breathers were partly blocked; a general clean up and check over made a big difference. Rover 14CUX Hot Wire Mass Flow EFI: Service and Troubleshooting

    3.9 V8 warm up time

It's within the 'normal' range on the gauge in the picture. It could be that there is a slightly cooler stat fitted than standard but I wouldn't be worried if mine consistently ran like that. Worth changing the stat if the fuel consumption is not where you think it should be.

    3.9 V8 warm up time

Mine is pushing warm air out of the heater within a few minutes and showing fully warm (middle of the gauge) within ten.

Mechanical problems in Morrocco - HELP!

Could it be the clutch release or pressure plate breaking up as it's heard when changing gear?

    What are my Chances?

Be prepared to find more (or less!) than you expect under the old floor. Mine needed repairs to the sides and two new floor supports. Not a quick job.

    Found the footwell leak! But..

On Disco 2, body flexing and even cracking around the bonnet hinges on the bulkhead is a possible cause. This can be a very wet area with water draining off the bottom of the windscreen; any weakness or bare metal will soon perforate allowing lots of water through. Worth a check.

    window lift channel

Put the rubber onto the glass in the correct place. You can check the position by putting a pallet knife/paint scraper down past the weather seal on the other door to find the right location. Put the top edge of the glass onto something soft; a thick cloth on a piece of wood is ideal. Put the...
