    Just had my renewal from Flux Direct £348 up from £275 last year :( Did a quick search to Compare the Meerkat yesterday and Lancaster Insurance came in at £127 so called them up and for another £18 got agreed value £145 all in happy days :D:D:D

    You could try helicoiling the damaged thread this would give a good permanent repair. I'm not sure what size or form the thread is but you should be able to get a kit to suit your bolt. Screwfix do metric kits...

    From TD5 onwards axles came with those cup the easy way to deal with them is to remove them with a chisle they are only held on with 4 small spot welds. You can then fit shock isolation washers as used on earlier axles or these from Gwyn Lewis...

    Think you might find it's the paint flaking off. My daughters is the same colour and has exact same problem. Funnily enough I've seen a few D2's the same colour as yours and daughters with the exact same problem paint flaking in gutters and above windscreen. Very nice looking motor good luck...

    Traps set all around outside and inside just in case but I think it's old damage that the previous owner had done a bodge repair too it used to be kept in a barn and there is signs of mouse damaged to insulation/sound deadening and i've had to change brake fluid reservoir and various other bits...
