What did you do with your Range Rover today

Just finished the replacement of the oil pan gasket and the accompanying engine oil change. Honestly, of all the jobs so far this was the worst, right there on top with scratching of the old underseal by hand. The local stealership apparently used all the torque the forgot on the tank cover on...

Again nothing, oil changes all around and gaskets are scheduled for Saturday so. Also I plan to clean it, didn't have time since the last outing and the rain doesn't reach underneath to clean the mud out. I did repair two bike tires so.

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Nothing actually. But I did park at my new job right next to very nice aubergine colored soft dash with complete and almost prestine interior. Now I have to find who's car that is! Also booked my TÜV appointment for August 4th. Until then I need to chnage all oils, replce some gaskets, sort the...

Petrol is at 1.54-56 Euro per litre. Is it schizophrenic to support CO2 counter measures, including those that drive fuel cost up, and owning a 3.5 V8? Anyway, I have high hopes they get synthetic bio fuels up and running. The local busses all run on bio gas already, unfortunately that's not...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Took her to a offroad park nearby today. Like she should, she got dirty! I also lost one of the front bumper corners, no idea when and where... And hey, she got up every obstacle I tried! Including the one that killed the old rear diff. Also met some guys with Land Cruisers that own a garage...

1992 200tdi Discovery- gradually improving my daily driver

When I had a clonk from the back, along with some vibration while declaration, it turned out to be the diff. May be worth a look?

Soon to be Defender owner....Fingers crossed!!

Welcome to the forum! I don't have a Defender, but my journey started with looking for one. Now it's a 1982 Range Rover. From my experience, and I started with zero experience working on cars, stuff like prop shafts, lights and stuff turned out to be easy enough to fix in my drive way. Rust...

Not to that extent, just a couple of days faster then the other!

It doesn't. It got better with the new o ring so, still not on par with the right one.

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Yeah, the other carb. The right one is good, as far as I can tell. The left one so is a royal pain, its leaking damper oil, borderline impossible to calibrate correctly (it has a tendency to run rich)... Maybe I do a full rebuild, if I miss emissions that is. Otherwise I'll be very happy to not...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

I aimed for the lean side, my very smart manual (which I failed to read correctly more than once by now) says a slight drip is ok. I am at maybe 10 rpm or so, hardly noticeable. Idle is at 800 now, I have the suspicious that something is stuck somewhere. But for now, I don't care. Anyway, the...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Ah, almost there! Fast idle at 1,100 rpm with the choke half pulled out, rpm are ever so slightly dropping when the carb pistons are lifted. Idling speed it almost 1,000 rpm so... No idea how I can get it down, the stop screws aren't making contact right now, so that's not the problem...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Thanks kermit! A pity we are to far, isn't it? If it helps, I get my second jab end of July! But I guess I'll be able to fix it, it ran on the screwed choke pretty well, except for fuel consumption. But we'll see. If she idles at 600-700 rpm, and isn't running rich, I'll try to get through TÜV...

So, everything is back in! The grease worked perfectly. Next thing after lunch will be recalibrating the carbs, considering how ****ed up the were that'll be fun. Especially for my neighbors!

Let's try some grease then... Copper grease or multiple purpose? I got both.

Another thing. In case I don't get Hylomar, a first search turned up delivery on Friday, is that only yo hold the gasket in place? Or is providing some additional sealing?

What did you do with your Range Rover today

So, the choke disk was, quite embarrassing for an engineer to be unable to read a simple workshop manual, fitted 180 degrees in wrong direction. Anyway, right rocker cover is off. That's what it looks like underneath: Anything out of the ordinary? First time I see an engine from the inside.
