Yes you can use one on the bonnet, the bracket will just fit between the frame under the bonnet. Drill some holes and away you go, adjust the bolts on the carrier so the wheel just rests on the bonnet when in situ. Don't listen to the nay sayers I've done this on numerous series and 90/110s with...

I'd do it on a bench, as long as its roughly the same shape as you took off it'll fit one way or another........landrover tolerances are the friend of the rebuild. Oh, one proviso make sure the bulkhead long fixing bolts are in the right position.

I fitted a servo to my series 2 but I had to cut a bit out of the wing top to accommodate it, so if you're after originality leave it alone.

A bit of ptfe gas tape around the grommet then a bit more round the valve when you push it in worked for me.

I think you're getting mixed up with tax exempt and MOT exempt. The engine swap only becomes an issue with MOT status, any old banger on the right aged plates is tax exempt.

Pull the threaded bit off and shove the wiper on and tighten the bolt.

They stopped making stage 1's in 1983 but the C reg means 1985.
