Sorted ! Wedged top corner of door open with wooden wedges and managed to get the key out of the ignition with cup hook selotaped on to the end of a steel rod ! Conected the battery up and the other doors did'nt open ! Thanks for all your help !

Can't get to starter motor or battery ! Waiting for all the frost to melt to have a do at the door as I can't see tiddly squat !

Probably a better idea to connect onto the started motor then - cheers "Mad un" Then I will try wedge door open and could try and get the keys out of the ignition if all else fails ! Thanks for all your help-will be on the case tomorrow morning !

I reckon if I took the engine cover off I could get up with a jump lead ! You think powering it up will open the doors ?

Thought about that but the button goes down into the door so theirs nothing to get hold of !

I would like to avoid busting glass if I can as getting a replacement here in rural France is going to be a pain in the botty !

Hi I took the battery off a year 2000 3 door Freelander the other day to charge and for the some reason the doors have locked and the keys are in the ignition !! Not got a spare key or key N° ! Any body help, by MP if you don't want to post up here otherwise is it a window job ? Thanks in advance

Pics as promised ! Con rod looks a bit rusty !!!!!!!!! Can you drop the sump and get the piston out with the engine in situ ? How much for a piston /sleeve ? Can you recomend where to get them from ? What else will I need ? head gasket,joints ? New head bolts ? cam belt ? How do I time it all...

It was too late/dark to take you some pics when I got back this evening !! Had another look at the old girl though, the top of n° 1 piston is damaged down to the rings, probably why they did'nt repair after gasket going ! Get you some pics tomorrow ;-)

Thanks Freelance ! Did'nt know you could just get 1 liner as I thought they were sold in 4s ? The previouse owner blew the head gasket when it over heated or vice/versa ! The car has done 115k miles, from what he told me the head gasket had already gone once at 60k where they changed all the...

What do you mean by "reseal " your liners ! One of the liners is bust when it came out then got trapped by the piston going back down !

Right so in a nut shell it's going to be a ball ache as the engine I'm interested in is a 1998 with a dizzy (just the block with no bit's.. coil etc) and mines a 2000 electronic ignition . Don't want the hassle !

Thanks Nodge ! Because I bought the vehicle for scrap as some knob took the head off and then turned the engine over and one of the liners has come out and bust !! I think it's too good to scrap I have found a 1998 engine for 90 snakes that is supposedly good will this go in then with the bit's...

Hi I'm looking for a 1.8 petrol K series engine for a year 2000 Freelander and was wondering if any year engine would do and would it just drop in or do I also need it's personal ecu , codes etc ..... ? Thanks in advance ! Ps: I already know it's a **** engine and will blow it's head etc ......
