    Reassembly - parts left over???

This one is a far bit larger. Could these be from the outside of an R380? I was playing around with it whilst stripping the engine.

    Reassembly - parts left over???

Thanks - I had all the bolts and washer re-plated, hence why they haven't been paired up with what they came off. FYI, the nut and serrated washer are about the same size as the nut on the front of the injection pump; about M12-M14.

I've almost finished the engine rebuild and have a few items left over - I cannot think for the life me where they go! Any help will be much appreciated :)

    Sting Ray's '89 90 - Complete Restoration

Doing up those head bolts brought on a bit of a sweat!!! A little more progress was made earlier :-) Going to need a crank locking tool to do the bolt up properly though. Injectors, glow plugs, aux belt are turbo are probably the last things I need to buy for the engine, although I may...

The photos are a bit arse about face IYKWIM, but I'm sure you get the picture. The waterpump housing will need to come off once the new core plug arrives as I negated to order the correct amount  Quite a few odds and sods were ordered this morning too, which will help to complete...

It turns out that a 10mm drill bit is the perfect implement for locking the fuel pump in position.

    300tdi Timing Cover

A lack of time is why I'm not replacing the bearing. I'm rebuilding the entire vehicle and now have a deadline to get it moving under its own power. I don't wish to sacrifice on quality, but the cost delta makes this part worthy of consideration; if there is evidence that this part is good/bad...

Not at all - just gauging whether others have any experiences of this specific part to share or not. Completely agree about the peace of mind aspect.

    300tdi Timing Cover

I usually only use Britpart for the most innocuous of parts, however the price of their timing covers (ERR7146) is attractive – I could buy two and still pay less than a genuine one, and have some change! I’d like to seek thoughts about this specific part, rather than Britpart in general. It...

replace the crank seal on the front timing cover

Thanks, and yes, I am referring to the seal that is fitted into the front timing cover. According the all the IPCs, ERR 4575 is fitted into the rear cover (chest) and ERR 4576 is fitted to the front cover. 4575 is supplied in the bottom gasket set, STC 2801, so I'm happy that the correct one has...

replace the crank seal on the front timing cover

I was also supplied one the 'later' types of seal for the timing front cover, the old one was the design too, i.e. metal and rubber. Grateful if any light can be shed on how to fit this type of seal.

    Sting Ray's '89 90 - Complete Restoration

New (complete) head ordered from Turner Engineering as mine was bowed beyond skimmable range. I should be able to start reassembling the block on Sunday. I'll paint it after that, probably opting for a bag standard black. I've hit a snag with the underseat tank, which fouls on the brackets...
