300tdi Timing Cover

I usually only use Britpart for the most innocuous of parts, however the price of their timing covers (ERR7146) is attractive – I could buy two and still pay less than a genuine one, and have some change! I’d like to seek thoughts about this specific part, rather than Britpart in general. It does have a bearing, which makes me wish to proceed with caution. I really CBA to replace the bearing alone (assuming they can still be sourced) as I’ve got enough jobs on my plate!

Buy genuine & it will save you the worry of if/when it's going to let go.
Never think cheap is better.

Not at all - just gauging whether others have any experiences of this specific part to share or not. Completely agree about the peace of mind aspect.

Surely if the price of the Britpart one is what is attracting you to it, would it not be cheaper to just replace the bearing, or is your current one damaged or warped?

A lack of time is why I'm not replacing the bearing. I'm rebuilding the entire vehicle and now have a deadline to get it moving under its own power. I don't wish to sacrifice on quality, but the cost delta makes this part worthy of consideration; if there is evidence that this part is good/bad, then this will help me to decide.

not sure what price your looking at but Turner Engineering do one ERR7146 for £301.04 + VAT
They also have a used one in there stock clearance page for £75.00 + VAT used, cleaned, inspected and in good condition.

not sure, ring and speak to Frida, she will know.
if they have inspected it and say its in good condition I would trust them, wouldn't hesitate at all.
