Maybe the Hangin talk scared her off.

Electric issues + clueless girl. Help!

Hippo has given good advice. The dealer will have the factory diagnostics and if you are lucky their technician will have seen the problem before and will have a clue how to solve it. A code reader is only useful in the hands of someone who knows how to use it, particularly when it comes to...

What have you done to your Freelander today

Tony, was that to get rid of a tappet noise? I have an intermittent noise coming from my V6 and I am starting to suspect that is my issue. After my 40k trip to work this morning the engine was nice and quiet but after the trip home this afternoon it was tappety as all getout. I really don`t want...

What have you done to your Freelander today

Today I did some more mixing and matching of manifolds and VIS motors on the V6 to try to get rid of the tappety noise. At this point it is gone but it wouldn't be the first time I have said that only for it to come back. I am getting lightning quick at swapping out the manifolds though. I also...

    dash cam

I used a piggy back fuse and added a 2 socket plug in the glove box. I ran my dash cam wiring under the windscreen trim down the A pillar to the glove box so the lighter plug that came with the dash cam just plugs into the socket. Easy and it gives you an extra socket for a satnav or whatever.

GPS-MOUNT ON FL1 CENTRE AIR VENTS?

I wouldn`t mount one on the vent. I ruined a similar MGF vent with a phone mount. They just aren`t built to handle any weight. The weight of the satnav would make it drop to it's lowest position anyway. For phone use on my hippo I am using a magnetic mount. There is an adjustable ball mounting...

    V6 Alternator Noise?

Well, isn't that strange. With the belt off it was still making the noise. When I got everything back together the noise stopped. Of course I'm not naïve enough to think I fixed it, so I left it alone. I'll run it up in the next couple of days to find, I'm sure, that the noise has returned...

    V6 Alternator Noise?

Well...This isn't going well! Tried the soapy water thing-no change. Removed the belt (Not the simplest job is it? )-No change. Had a good crawl around with the Hippo on stands and the sound seems loudest from the sump-Not a good thing. From what I can see/feel of the exhaust manifolds there...

    V6 Alternator Noise?

That would be a nice simple fix. The belt looks in great condition from what I can see of it but I will give it a good looking at when it`s off.

    V6 Alternator Noise?

Mollynomad, That was one hell of a trip! I've thought it may be the exhaust as well but reaching in by the manifold I didn't feel any leaks. It's had a bit of a tick for quite a while but I took the Hippo out for a test drive after fixing the cooling problem and got it up almost to the redline...

    V6 Alternator Noise?

Thanks Nodge. I thought it would be safe but thought I'd better check. I'll pop the belt off on the weekend. Hoping it's not a tensioner or water pump or some other part that will involve a strip down. It doesn't seem to be a rod bearing or a lifter (he says hopefully!)

    V6 Alternator Noise?

Hi V6 guys. I am getting a ticking noise from the vicinity of my alternator/power steering pump. I used a stethoscope on various engine bits and couldn't hear the ticking coming from the heads or engine parts. I'm just wondering if anyone has had the same noise from their Hippo and can confirm...

What have you done to your Freelander today

I changed the intake manifold on my V6 this weekend. Major improvement in running. It must have heard it was going up for sale as it started with a tappety noise when it got home. It sounded like it was coming from the alternator area so I picked up a cheap mechanic's stethoscope to find...

Freelander 1 New expansion tank nightmare. (Land Rover parts quality)

I have just replaced one on my V6. It was an aftermarket tank and only lasted a year, under 5000km. :( I have replaced it with a factory tank and am hoping for better longevity.

What have you done to your Freelander today

Went across the US border today to pick up my replacement Coolant recovery tank. The old one cracked at the neck. It was only a year old but was an aftermarket tank. This time I paid extra and got a factory tank. Here's hoping there was no other damage caused. Edit: Got the new tank installed...

What have you done to your Freelander today

I do like the facelift seats, very comfortable and supportive, so supportive I have to take my wallet out of my back pocket to avoid numb-bum. My wife likes them better than her Kia. On my2004 V6 the only noise is tyre noise from the AT Tyres. Well, there is a tappet noise from the engine that...
