    P38A Mileage Query

If you've just changed the plugs don't reset adaptive values. If you've changed a cam maybe. But gems will learn to run ok after one drive cycle. If you've changed the throttle sensor iacv yes to reset the idle.

    P38A Mileage Query

By let by I mean the injector pulse no longer delivers a crisp waveform. They open slightly before and close slightly after. They also have a very poor spray when they get older. Even at 100000 miles there not great. There not available either. I attribute the Thor's better fuel consumption...

    P38A Mileage Query

The lucas injectors can let by usually resulting in high revs on starting. The correct Bosch injectors are a big improvement and a straight swap.

    4.6 hse temp gauge

Cheap thermostats do this. V8s don't like running cold ask me how I know! Only buy oem. There made by gates. The price is the way to tell.

    P38A Mileage Query

I don't have the figures but it's a voltage reading taken at 1000 and 3000 rpm. Only problem with fuel filters is the car won't start if its very blocked! The Lucas injectors at that mileage are usually dicey. I think the actual reading is arrived at by the injector pulsing( knowing fuel...

Oddly I like resetting mpg meter. It does seem to be slightly random at times.

    P38A Mileage Query

It's difficult to recommend anything but check the coolant temp sensor. Check the maf at 1000 and 3000 rpm. Check the actual brim to brim mpg. Check the plugs are the same. Air conditioning on? Alternator/ battery dodgy? Check plug leads for Sparks in the pitch dark. Coil breaking down after...

    P38A Mileage Query

In fact I'd suggest your fuel trims are very well suited. The only time I'd reset fuel trims is after major engine work. Lpg does mess up gems fuel trims though. Gems is quite a slow adaptor not a fault just made that way which plays havoc with lpg/petrol trims. Thor is much quicker. It may...

    P38A Mileage Query

Don't reset adaptive values it's pointless and will result in a loss of mpg for a spell! Gems will adapt all by itself. Resetting adaptive values on nanocom is a blunt instrument and resets everything. Having said that is your car on lpg? I wouldn't worry about it tbh it's an average and...

    P38A LPG removal?

Straightforward. The gas nipples are drilled into the inlet these will need plugging. The injector wiring is interupted. So one injector wire is cut then 2 wires from the lpg loom are connected to each wire. The coolant lines are cut to incorporate the vapouriser. The lpg loom will have a fused...

L322 Oh Dang it - This is a bit more serious - Head off time I think....

Some optimists in the house! Changing valve stem seals with a piece of rope. ..ok. I just don't see this sailing tbh. If it's blown the plug out it may have buggered the hole up anyway. My only experience of swarf in engines has been from folks drilling for lpg nipples on rv8 inlets because they...

P38A P38 Range Rover 2001 Wont Start Help!!!!

It's odd they would change a basic parameter like showing the revs. The xjs which is gems 6 definitely shows 200 when the crank sensor works and nothing when it's knackered. To check on mine I'd have to take the fuel pump relay out. I'll do it one day! This is such a common problem on these...

    MAF or Not??

I've never heard of having to empty the vapouriser tbh. There are liquid filters and also gas filters but these just filter. The coolant flows around vapouriser the lpg. Sometimes they have a vacuum nipple to increase flow under load. The membranes do regularly breakdown though

    MAF or Not??

Run the vehicle on petrol only. No gas. ..none. ok any issues? If yes you'll need a proper diagnostic device( nano) if no it's your lpg system. Find someone with proper manufacturer software and see what's happening. Of course you could just take a punt on plugs filters etc etc. But it's...

P38A Crankshaft Pully Holding Tool - Front Cover Coming Off!

I've got a crank seal and a rubber sump gasket. I guess it's a Thor. I undid the front pulley with my 18v Makita impact wrench btw .

p38 4.6 engine wont stay alive after starting.

I'm not familiar with Thor tbh but I'm guessing it's still a stepper motor. These can be really sensitive. For instance mine was idling high I took out the idle valve and someone turned up. I literally wiped a bit of soot off the plunger, stuck my fingers in the hole( o ER) screwed it back tried...

P38A Am I mad? Toying with purchasing a V8 with coolant hose issues.

For my opinion I reckon don't bother get one that's got no significant issues . In fact get one that's been rebuilt with top hats, is a Thor, and a 4.6. I just think block issues are so common it's not worth fixing anything else if that has issues .

    P38A hub nut

For these jobs I use an 18v Makita impact gun. Never failed yet. I don't use it for tightening it's ruined more threads than I care to mention. Anything delicates out it just snaps them off!

    P38A LPG conversion

Lpg is reasonable to install. Have to remove the inlet manifold though to drill. Getting it running well is a different kettle though. Prins are reckoned the best . Eastern Europe is a good source for cheaper products though.
