L322 Can you guess what my next task is???

Noooo - CD changer is in the back!!

    Engine immobilised???

Decided I'm gonna go for the updated RF receiver option. Expensive I know at £240 - but when the car goes to Rangey heaven in the future (or I sell it) then I can put the old one back in and resell the updated one. I just like the idea of everything working as it should! A question - when...

    P38 Diagnostics

You may well have an air leak if the pump is on all the time. As advised follow wammers eas guide. The software won't tell you if you've got a leaky airbag or hose.

    Engine immobilised???

Hi marty. Your right - a tiny piece of gunk bridging a couple of the pins. I've received my replacement door latches - but won't have a go at changing them until after next weekend - due to work and daughters birthday party - I'll wait till of got a couple of peaceful days. What i'll do...

    Engine immobilised???

Cheers Brian. I'll look into that. I guess that means you have to have 2 key fobs. Before I fit the replacement locks I'm going to try removing the aerial wire from the rf receiver - and see how that works.

    Engine immobilised???

Marty - I love you!! Haven't got my replacement door locks yet - but had the morning off and it just didn't make sense to me why Fuse 15 blowing would disable the engine or stop me entering the EKA code. So printed off your message and went out to investigate. Basically fuse 15 was blowing more...

    Engine immobilised???

Thanks Grrrrrr, that's kind of you. I've got 2 front door locks coming from east coast 4x4, so hoping that will solve my blown micro switch problems. Just hoping it will solve my 'engine immobilised' problem and I'll be able to enter the EKA code ok. Cheers Kevin

    Engine immobilised???

Thanks Alastair. If changing the locks (and new rf receiver) doesn't sort the problem and I've eliminated any wiring problems, it'll be a call to my local friendly indy Land Rover garage to get it hooked up to their diagnostics. Whatever the reason for the problem I'm going to have to replace...

    Engine immobilised???

Nice one wammers. The micro switch? - is that part of the door lock mechanism? i.e. if I fit a new drivers door lock mechanism i'm also fitting a new micro switch?

    Engine immobilised???

Well I won't get clambering until tomorrow morning - when I've got time to somehow remove the dog guard so that I can climb into the back. Will go through the wire checking also, as you suggested Marty. I tried the EKA whith F15 removed but this makes no difference. One thing I noticed this...

    Engine immobilised???

Cheers - I'll get clambering and let you know.

    Engine immobilised???

Thank you wammers. Yep, thinking about it, when I entered the EKA code I got the indicator lights flashing and the red alarm light on top of dash went out as the manual said it should - just wouldn't clear the 'engine immobilised'. Will have a good look today. Think I'll get myself a bag of...

    Engine immobilised???

Cheers Marty - that's great info - I'll check all of that out. It also occurred to me that the initial reason for battery drain may be a problem with the RF receiver. It's a '98 P38 so would have the first type receiver. When I unlock the drivers door manually with the key - it opens that door...

    Engine immobilised???

Hi guys. Rangey has been working well for some time now (P38 4.6gems) so it's about time I had a problem. Hadn't used the car for 3 weeks and when I came to use it yesterday the battery was flat. Was just a standard Varta 70AH so decided to replace it with a bigger 115AH 750cca battery. Fitted...

Random coolant spew on floor but never seen

Check the pipes and clips around the thermostat. I had a bad join on one of the hoses on to the plastic thermostat housing and when the water cooled (i.e. parked up) a small gap/leak opened up and sprayed water small amounts of coolant in different places everytime. I changed the old type spring...

    Yet another EAS Problem!

So assuming you've thoroughly checked the airbags and air pipes and found nothing, the next thing would be to check the valve block itself (and the pump while you're in there). Also bear in mind that with the car on the bump stops the air bags will be folded, you'll need to extend them on a jack...

    Problem with garage (in France)

That's just the immediate reaction to the Jules Bianchi accident, don't think it would be a good idea, wouldn't be able to keep the tyres up to heat/pressure. They'll end up like skalextric cars soon! Finding a good garage/bodyshop is like gold dust. Really gotta get your hands dirty yourself...

    Best place for parts?

I mainly use Island 4x4. Always found them good on price - got the choice of Britpart or oem quality on most parts. Excellent service - stuff usually arrives next working day. Used to use Rimmers quite a bit when I had old Triumphs but always found them a bit pricey for Range Rovers although the...
