Sorry to butt in. I get the same problem occasionally if it fails to start, no starter motor, take the key out, reverse the key insert and turn and will normally start. Have spoken to others but no idea of the cause.

Hi Have completed the rebuild of my (1996) disco, new boot floor, new rear side wings and new sills. Everything else works incl all switches. Problem, when on start up and engine is controling downward motion (live on a big hill) there is evidence of blueish smoke until acelerator is pressed...

Glad I found this thread how to get rid of the squealing fan belt.. At times couldn't hear the engine, had it fixed this pm, luckily, though belt was changed a year ago, it was in the process of breaking up, so result, due to spending a penny got rid of the squael and averted a broken belt...

I would recommend a compressor from Aldi, very good value for money, have had mine some 8 years and used for Disco, tractor and spraying fence still going strong. Pressure washed the underneath the took the disco for a 100 mile drive on a warm day, nice & dry for the waxoyl, job done.

Hi Very interesting theory about the difference in water, possibly due to chemicals in tap water. As for the other question about how high was the disco, the Gower peninsula has a couple of high points, where I was was approx 200 feet above sea level. Also new filter fitted a couple of weeks...

Hi Removed trim, no evidence at all of water from sun roofs, in fact played hose over top of car after treatment with the sealant, unless something happens when it rains I think leak has been solved. Thanks all for the advice..

No evidence of water around sun roofs, no discolouring of headlining all dry in this area.

Thanks everybody, have ordered the sealant, if weather stays dry should be ok to apply. Will have to drop the trim around alpine, anything to be wary of?

Merthyr, very balmy weather, Where I live Top Dowlais we are brought up to fight polar bears. Another record, may have one day of summer around end of June. Now you know why I have a disco.

I can honestly say that on a good run (London & back) 4 adults and 2 teenagers driving at a constant (where possible ) 60 mph returned 38 mpg. My normal run is to Port Eynon (Gower) to Merthyr, normal to use 3 gals 104 mile round trip. Not bad considering the hills to be climbed on homeward...

Welding completed, rot "only in the back" as far as the centre pillar, both sides all down to alpine windows. Sailed through the mot, checked the engine bay etc cannot see any problems. My accoustic mat in the boot is a complete mess, any clues where to get a substitute which will not hold...
