My disco leaking badly from roof area

My disco is a 1996 model, I have already replaced the boot and the rear door arches and sills. I was told that the problem (rot) had been caused by the alpine windows leaking. I have sealed both windows. It rained last night and for the first time found water puddling on the trim by the seat lock plunger. The only place I can think (more than likely wrong) where the water is entering is the roof bar join, If it is, how can I cure it? HELP!

This stuff works I believe, used on the roof gutter and maybe on the roof bar entry points if you find that is the source of ingress.

If you use the 'Captain Tolleys' make sure you clean any residue off paintwork, it's a pain in the arse to do when dry.
With it being white it's easy to follow and trace where leaks originate, poured it in gutters and top of window seals,v carefully, and let it run !! Amazing where it comes out [emoji16].

The guttering on my old 200 let water in , As above I used captain Tolley and cured the leaking straight away.

Thanks everybody, have ordered the sealant, if weather stays dry should be ok to apply. Will have to drop the trim around alpine, anything to be wary of?

No evidence of water around sun roofs, no discolouring of headlining all dry in this area.

mine let water **** in, and with the headlinder in place it all used to come out by passenger A pillar ...... and soak the missus .....lol

there were no water marks on my headliner either.
it was only when I took the liner out that I could see the water coming in from rear sunroof........loads of it !!

Hi

Removed trim, no evidence at all of water from sun roofs, in fact played hose over top of car after treatment with the sealant, unless something happens when it rains I think leak has been solved. Thanks all for the advice..

With my old 200 disco it would only let water in when it was moving, Cracks in the guttering would open up as the disco was wallowing about. Just a thought for you.

Will be using the disco this weekend, some rain forecast, hope all is sealed.

At last, found my way back onto the site.
We decamped in July off to the Gower for 6 + weeks. Came home after bank holiday after spending 5 weeks with a damaged leg.
Disco is fine, roof gutter sealed, happy with the way it is running - NO faults! Did have a small hi cup, going up a small gradient just topping onto the flat when the engine died. Luckily we were starting a descent, tried engaging fourt then third, engine would not start, started to lose speed, into second, engine stated. Not had the problem again, cannot figure what it was, any thoughts?

That's where you went wrong .... the water that comes out of the tap is a totally different substance to the water that comes out of clouds.

You can get the local fire brigade to play their biggest hoses on your Disco for hours and it'll stay as dry as a bone inside but the lightest drizzle overnight and it'll leak like a sieve.

Very interesting theory about the difference in water, possibly due to chemicals in tap water. As for the other question about how high was the disco, the Gower peninsula has a couple of high points, where I was was approx 200 feet above sea level. Also new filter fitted a couple of weeks ago, still cannot figure out the cause! othe engine cut out.
