Opinion wanted: eBay or Kenlowe fan?

Hi All, I have seen the many threads debating whether to fit a leccy fan or not...and I do want to now. I notice on Paddocks that the Kenlowe fan kit is £115 (12HPBS | Kenlowe 12in Electric Fan Kit. 12v.) It doesn't say...but I assume it comes with fitting kit and thermostat. Thing...

    Sloppy steering

I doubt a series LR exists that doesn't have sloppy steering. They left the factory with sloppy steering (relative to most other cars). You get used to it though.

Rust advice the underside of this 88"

Mine was the same a couple of years ago...so wire brush and rust protective chassis paint (made by Hammerite) as Ben suggests . After 2 years it looks like this: I will need a new exhaust soon !

    Rusty Footwell, MOT failure?

Is it OK to cut out the rusty bit with a nibbler....and then rivet a plate over it (with say a 2cm overlap)...or does it have to be welded?? Thanks.

    Marine Blue Paint

I only used the Paddocks paint for the interior because of the imperfect match...but I have used the genuine aerosol paint for small areas to touch-up on the exterior. I'm in two minds to paint the galvanised bumper in satin black to try and update it a bit.

    Marine Blue Paint

I bought a tin of Paddocks Marine Blue a couple of years ago and found it didn't match at all. I incorrectly believed this to be due to my original paint changing over the years. I then bought a small Genuine Land Rover Marine Blue in an aerosol can...but it was expensive. I was amazed to find...

    Gas or gasless MIG welder?

Thanks for all the advice. I will opt for one of the Clarke machines that does both gas and gasless. It looks like I can transfer the old bottle and regulator from my old knackered unit. This sort of thing: Clarke MIG 145 No-Gas/Gas MIG Welder - Machine Mart

    Gas or gasless MIG welder?

My trusty old gas MIG welder has finally given up....but now there are these new fangled gasless rigs with special wire. What are they like? Or should I still to gas? Will use mostly for automotive repairs and light fabrication. Cheers

    Brake drum retaining screw

Thanks everyone...in the end...I drilled them out...and luckily I didn't ruin the threads. Cobalt drill bits are fantastic used at slow speed. Strangely..the new drums (not ****Part) only have a recessed hole for one drum retaining screw...the old ones needed three retaining screws...

    Brake drum retaining screw

Hi all, Trying to replace my rusty old brake drums with shiny new ones....but having REAL problems getting the drum retaining screws off: I have tried: Heat around the screw with a blowtorch, then Impact driver with a hammer and Some penetrating oil. Most have come out but a couple...

    Advice fitting new Brake Drums

Hi, I bought a new set of brake drums to replace my old ones that are getting ropey. Obviously I know to degrease them with brake cleaner first - to remove the protective layer of packing oil....but when replacing brake discs on other cars I have usually given them a quick rub over with...

Popped out of gear in low range

Thanks...I will check that rear nut. It is odd that it only pops out once at the start of the downhill (every time)...then for another 10 mins of similar downhill driving it stays in gear. It doesn't do it at all going uphill !

Popped out of gear in low range

Hi All, I was doing some nice off-roading at Rivington Pike today (video below). Although the video makes it look flat...it is a bit steep in most places. On the downhill part I am in Low range 1st gear - just letting it trickle down..then it popped into neutral....put it in gear again and it...

    Fitting new seat backs query

Thanks! You are correct..I hadn't thought there might be a hole under the material. There is..and it appears to be threaded for a bolt - which solves my problem....I prefer having a bolt than a pin to secure it. It does appear to be a plastic frame inside too...significantly lighter and less...

    Fitting new seat backs query

Hi all, I bought a pair of new outer seat backs to replace my crappy old ones. They arrived today...I notice they are ****Part ones. Problem is..the original seat backs are connected to the frame by a bolt that goes into the metal seat back frame. See pic: The new ones seem to have a...

pushed the series a bit too hard today

I have always dreaded that happening to me...not because of the damage to the vehicle...but because of sitting on a fuel tank which would surely **** fuel out all over the place...I don't fancy burning to death trying to escape. Maybe this is less of a problem with a diesel. Also, I had a...
